Lizard versus Snake Skin booties

The question came up on the blog post this morning - that the booties were a duplication. As you can see they are quite different. That said a duplication would not have mattered either. I'm wearing my snakeskin booties into the ground.

I think the graphic detail on the snakeskin bootie is a bit more subtle. From a distance they read gray. The lizard, is boldly graphic -- and will always appear spotted. I think they echo one another but the lizard makes a bolder statement. They are both in the same vein but not a true duplication in my opinion. Love them both.

Just clarifying again that duplications make complete sense in some situations. I almost duplicated the snake skin by purchasing another exact same pair!

Gosh, I love the lizard ones! Makes me want a pair despite my already having dalmatian booties, now that I see it is not a duplication.

Those are not duplicates one pair is graphic and bold and the other muted and soft.

I can see the conundrum in the morning though when deciding which boot to slip into.

Day said it well. I've also been thinking of duplicating the snake and probably will if I can find a good discount. I've been not wearing mine when it's wet out to save them, even though they would be the best outfit choice. They have been sprayed for waterproofing but I still don't want to take a chance on shortening their life.

I have only had my snake booties for five days and it is too snowy to wear them outdoors, but I can already TOTALLY see duplicating them!! Love them! And these lizards to me are just enough different not to qualify as duplicates in the first place.

I don't think they are duplicates for you, but perhaps similar from the perspective of someone with a much more limited wardrobe such as myself. But for you I totally get it. It helps that I think they're awesome.
But I was surprised at the words you used to describe them such as 'crisp' - to me, and maybe it's just the photos, they look almost distressed ie/ ripped in an artful way - and combined with the bold graphic pattern infer a slightly downtown even RATE vibe, compared to the snakeskin that are more refined. Anyway - love them, and am always learning from your eye and experience where I have none!

I am madly in love with the lizard booties. And I'd only just said here that I was done with shoe buying for the winter season (I have one more pair on its way to me). If I could afford these I'd be seriously considering them, and will definitely stalk.

I've always liked the look of the snake, but I adore the lizard! I think it is the extra dose of dark, and the way they come up just a touch higher on the ankle.

This makes me chuckle. I am quite sure my husband would stare at this for a full minute and not see one iota of difference between the pairs. We stylish women, however, see two completely different boots. Vive la difference.

Angie, thanks so much for this post. I wasn't implying that they were a duplicate but I couldn't put my finger on exactly what the differences were. Seeing them side by side is wonderful and the differences are much more obvious, and yes I understand your response on the blog about one being 'cool' and the other 'warm'. I also agree that with something you love and wear frequently a duplicaton of the same or similar item can be a very wise choice. I adore both of these! I am actually waiting on my bootie order (the black and white animial print)... they have arrived at the post office but wont' be ready for collection til later today.... and it's summer... and Im going to HAVE to wear them lol.

Just for the record, I showed the pics to my hubs and he COULD tell them apart. But then he started questioning why women like wearing patterns of "dangerous" animals like tigers, snakes and leopards when they probably wouldn't want to be around the actual animal :). Well I guess he has a point.

ETA which also means that if I ever get these booties, he'll be making cracks about them. :-p

Jules, the lizard boots are not distressed in the slightest. Quite sterile actually. Definitely crisp and not arty or RATE. I guess pics can be deceiving

Love them both! Are the heels similar in height - they seem to be. I think it would be useful to duplicate favourite pants - with different hem lengths to accomodate footwear.

They are the same height. No need to duplicate the same pants though if your hems are tapered

Duplication is in the foot of the beholder! Because I would see these two pairs as duplicates in my own wardrobe, whereas every one of a million pairs of black boots would be uniquely individual and much needed in my eyes.
