Lipstick, scary shade but here I go!

I'm headed to Bloomies today and I'm scoping out a new lipstick shade! Hot pink!! http://glambistro.com/wp-conte.....stick1.jpg

Normally I wear nude shades of lipstick or gloss. Sometimes for special occasions and formal events I will wear red lipstick which I love. But this is wayyyyyy out of my comfort zone. I admit, I saw Alexia from the Real Housewives of Miami wear this shade on this week's episode and she paired it with a neon yellow/green outfit and it struck a cord with me, I must have this shade of lipstick!

Have any of you experimented with shades that you'd normally never wear?

I normally don't wear lipstick. Chap stick yes, but not lipstick. Makes my lips sore and puffy.

I stick to berry shades ("my lips but better"). If I go more red, I use a sheer lippie (eg cherry tart, a revlon lip butter) which softens the look. The same thing can be achieved by applying a lipstick over a balm.

In this case, though, the look relies on a thick shiny application. Why not give it a try?!

Good for you! Bold lipstick can be fab. I see hot pink lipstick on the J. Crew catalogue models all the time, and I've been thinking I should try some. It brightens up a monochromatic, neutral outfit.

And yes, I've experimented with shades that are out of my comfort zone, with mixed success. But it's the only way to find out what works for you.

Bold lipstick looks AWFUL on me. I have to stick with more subtle shades. I kinda envy those who can pull off deeper or brighter colors, but I'll just have to stick with playing up my eyes instead.

You should try everything and never stick to the same thing. Make up is fun and for experimenting. On the otherhand if you are strapped for cash and this purchase is the only one you can make for a while, stick to what you know and keep saving.

Wow that is bright! I do a red matt lip on rare special occasions but would never stretch my self this far. Nudes and berry for me.

Neon is trending so its worth a try if you can pair it with a good occasion and the right mix of clothing.

Sounds like you'll get a chance to try before you buy! Lipstick can be a great way to play with a bold trend. I'd just make sure you know you'll have a chance too wear it. Oh -- and, unlike the model, I'd leave your tongue inside your mouth! lol.

I wear a very bright shade of fuchsia when I'm done working a 30 hour shift and I feel like I want to punch the next person to stand between me and getting home and sleeping. It's my "I Mean Business And Need To Get Out" shade. LOL.
