Linen Tee Shirts

I bought three linen tee shirts from Madewell. AlaskaGirl got her order before I did and she raved about them. I was thrilled with her review and hoped to have similar luck.

I got them earlier this week, but only had the opportunity to try them on this morning. I love them. Different from my normal style, but I think i am in the middle of a style evolution so "different" is good.

I bought three tee shirts: grey, white, and red. The red is a true red. I am pretty happy with all three of them. They feel light and airy on my body. Their length is perfect too. Shorter than normal tee shirts, but the length suits me better.

I may have found the perfect top for Summer. I think I can wear it to work on casual days and I certainly can wear it for casual weekend wear.

I think the style of these tee shirts is going to make them really versatile in my wardrobe. And did I mention light and airy? I am recommending them to all my friends now.

Thank you for the heads up. Now I have a reason to head for the mall. This might lure me away from wovens and buttons. That red is something have been looking at that is not in my closet.
Where is your style going, if I have missed that?

My style revolved around work and work capsules. It is conservative with lots of dress slacks, skirts, and button down silk blouses. I was really happy with it, but in 2014, I started to introduce a certain softness to my work capsule. I still wear dress slacks and skirts, but I might pair them with sweaters, cardigans, and now hopefully, linen tee shirts.

In the past, all of my time and money went toward developing my work capsule. This meant that other capsules suffered. Recently, I have devoted a great deal of time toward developing the capsules that previously were nonexistent or lagged behind (casual, lounging, athletic). I am really satisfied with them today. The greatest relief came from giving myself permission to buy nice clothes that I couldn't wear to work. For the first time in my life, I have a casual capsule that I love.

This is to let people know that I washed my tee shirt for the first time and the fabric split apart at the neckline. The split is about 1.5 inches. Obviously the tee shirt is very poorly made. I will be returning mine tomorrow. I don't recommend them.

Yikes, sorry to hear that on two levels! I just posted about getting mine and liking it. Thanks for the heads up, I will wash on delicate because I really want to keep it.

Wow, Sterling, that is disappointing. Kind of ironic since they are "Made well." Perhaps I will return mine as well. Even on sale, it's pricey for a tee shirt. Hope they stand by their product!

AAAAK!!!!...Sterling...I haven't washed any of mine yet. I'm hoping your poor performance was a fluke as I love the cut, style and feel of the fabric.

I agree with you Dakotacheryl. This is a great tee shirt. But to fall apart in one single washing is a bad sign. I am returning all three of the them (red, white, and grey) because I don't trust that it was a fluke.

I have had really bad luck with tee shirts separating along the seams (Banana Republic and now Madewell). I stopped buying from Banana Republic because I don't have the time to deal with poor quality. I guess I bought my last items from Madewell too.

I am updating on my Madewell linen T's.

I have successfully washed them in lingerie bags in the washer on my delicate cycle. Then I hang to dry on hangers.

So far, the T's have held up beautifully, and I am loving them.

I'm another one who washed the Madewell in a lingerie bag and let it air dry. It came out fine although seems to have shrunk a bit in length. It's still fine though.

I am still looking for my perfect linen t. This might be an option so I am happy to see the review. I need a long length since I am tall and a deep v neck, a flowy fit to cover my tummy but fitted on my smaller shoulders. I tried Lou and Grey's linen tshirts at LOFT last week but the crew neck did nothing for me and the length was too short. I am wondering if I just need to look for linen tunics to get the length right.

@marit: I wouldn't bother with the Madewell if you need length. The banana republic linen tees are better--good length and nice v-neck.

I have had tremendous luck with Eileen Fisher linen tees. She makes a variety of shapes each season - some very slouchy - some more fitted. They wash and wear very well - regular cycle, hang dry. I have not had luck with less expensive brands. Although they are pricey - I feel the quality is superior and worth the extra expense. I look for end of the season sales and stock up but will pay full price for white and blue (my favorite colors).

i just received AT's boatneck linen tee in the mail today. I got a Spetite in white and navy. they're absolutely perfect fit, but i haven't washed them yet. i'll keep y'all posted. (also got them on crazy sale $14 each, or i wouldn't have bought them)
