Linen fabric okay in the fall?

Here in the midwest we do not wear linen in the fall .... it may be different in the South wear if remains warm longer than here, but I would say that generally linen is a summer fabric.

I'm in the SF Bay Area, also a milder climate, and you see linen all year round. The colors you mention seem especially appropriate for fall. i love linen and wear it whenever i can. but i'm not overly concerned with fitting in.........i'll be interested to see how the responses 'add up' on this question. have fun!!! steph

...I'm in the midwest and i have a black & white plaid linen dress i wear into fall. >.> I do pair it with warmer pieces though...i posted a picture before but i'm not on my home computer right now to re-show it.

I think if you can make it look like it belongs in the fall season and are warm enough then go for it!

Fall weather here can hit triple digits, so I wear linen all fall long.

All the colors you mentioned are Fall colors in my opinion. I too, live in the South and I'll wear linen if the temps are still warm. It's still in the 90's here. You need to wear what makes you comfortable and fits the weather. And, making you happy goes a long way also

In your climate, I would wear linen all year, esp.in fall-ish colors. Actually, I'd wear linen shirts or blouses all year in any climate, depending on the colr or style. I wouldn't wear linen pants or jackets, though.

I hope so, especially linen blends, which I like for wrinkle/ resistance. And fall colors.
In warm climates I think " fall- ified" cottons and linen belong, same as having a cashmere or merino sweater in lilac can " spring-ify " the late winter
wardrobe.
I think there are styles that lend themselves more, so I look for that. Jackets like cargo or safari I think look good in fall, in olive or rust or camel, and yet were fine for summer with a white T shirt.
I'm really interested in versatile or transitional pieces that can skew spring OR fall with different other items. Colors, too. For example, purple and rust, which can read very Fall, esp together, individually to me can be
spring- summer with lots of white, and summery jewelry , then go Fall with cream and camel, black, olive.

Linen is actually too hot to wear in the summer here (Queensland, Australia) although I know many swear that it's a cool fabric. For me, it just traps heat and cotton is much better. So yes, I wear linen in spring and autumn, and if it's a simple button down shirt and not an obviously summery pattern or style, it even gets worn in winter.
