LP isn't my usual style but a couple of these things would be cute for summer. I'm glad they'll have plus sizes although I think I read they'll only be available online.

I think I need that white fringe kimono for my FL/NOLA trip next month! Love lilly but can't wear her palettes. Will admire from afar.

Like Deb, this is not me. I was thinking that I could picture the clothes on an older generation than the models, but I think I just am unaware of the history of the brand.

Yeah, the whole "oh no, now the poors will be wearing LP and no one will know I'm important because I spent three hundred dollars on my dress," backlash when they announced the collab was so distasteful (yet utterly unsurprising). And as the comments on the Refinery29 article mention, it's not like LP is super high end. I owned a jacket from them a few years ago (solid color, not print) which I bought full price, and it was less than a hundred bucks. Not exactly couture Chanel or anything.

I feel like Lilly Pulitzer is kinda similar to St John, in that for a lot of people who aren't in the fashion industry, if they saw some of the pieces without price or brand info, they'd think cheap and cheerful for the grandma set. But both have carved themselves a little niche for themselves. LP has a lot of cultural implications for the Southern sorority prep set.

Trust me Lilly isn't all that - used to buy the dresses for my little one and a shirt for me to match - cause that is kinda fun to do when you have a little one.

It really isn't high end in any way shape or form. Not even close. I think more of the appeal is most people don't know the brand and it is kinda hard to find places to shop for it (not so much now with the internet) brick and mortar so that makes it exclusive. LP shops are using found in more upscale malls.

Those negative responses from the refinery29 site are hilarious -- especially the comment that this alignment will ruin the Lilly Pulitzer business. Sure, just as collaborating with Target or H&M has destroyed the credibility of Liberty, Missoni, Karl Lagerfeld, Marni, Stella McCartney, Lanvin, Victor & Rolf, Zac Posen, Rodarte, etc.

I was all set to say "No way, Jose' , Lilly Pulitzer is NOT me". But this collection IS me - at least elements of it are - the me who grew up and lived in Florida until I was nearly 30. The me who likes to go back and visit family and spend time in Orlando and Tampa. The me who hopes to return to Okinawa someday and spend some time there. The tropical-n-safari wildcard me.

I see several things that would be perfect in my Florida/tropical/swim capsule. Some of the shorts, the nosie posie blouse, and the straw bag would fit right in with what I have. The swimsuits are pretty. I plan to have a look, see if the reality matches the photos.

If nothing else, that little giraffe necklace is calling to me. But I already have a seahorse pendant and a sealife bracelet, so LP for Target can keep theirs.

Here is hoping that the quality of this stuff is good.

It's not my vibe, but there are some cute things in the collection.

I would totally wear those orange printed pants as pajama bottoms though! And I like the blue and white print, although a strapless romper is the last thing in the world I should put on my body.

Have a soft spot for Lilly Pulitzer. A little cotton shift is the ultimate
in comfort wear in a Sugarcane Climate. Used to live in them in the
olden days. Of course, the West Indies situation is wratchet. Long
abandoned along with the dresses.
The Refinery 29 link is famous. Is hysterical. Had not heard the term 'basics' before. That's so ghetto fab. I'm officially replacing *marshmallow peeps* with *all y'all basics* after Easter.
Who were those commenters? Lilly Pulitzer is Palm Beach. Not South Beach Diet.

LP and Target are perfect for each other. Completely sympatico. The graphic prints, the colours, the cuts, the where-to-wear. Lilly Pulitzer wore her original prototype to work her little juice stand, like, under a tree.
Target is the best thing that could happen to LP. LP has been over since the original company closed shop, like the West Indies has been over. Really, all came to an end at just about the same time. The revival of LP has been more like a zombie resurrection.
LP is the original $500 yarn doll. Lilly Pulitzer whips up these pillowcase dresses, sells them from a juice stand, and then sells them to her friends from Chapin.

I might check out the green and white leaf pattern things from the Target collection. I like that one. A strong print.

I'm not a fan. Never owned any. Not sure I ever will, but I was impressed by the extensive array of offerings. This looks like the biggest Target designer collaboration project so far.

I’ve always equated the Lilly Look with sorority
sisters and Main Line mammas. That being said, I think Target is a perfect
partner for them.

Any tips for how to shop these on -line Target collaboration sales. I attempted to shop the kate spade Target sale and the site was so busy I couldn't access it. Thanks!

Well I had to look after Rachy's comments. There is something scary about the LP demographic. Did this happen with Missoni and Target, et al.?

I'm not a huge fan mostly because I don't have much use for the styles. I try to wear smaller prints because larger ones can overwhelm me, and these prints are a little loud to me. And they don't make the styles in petites! I really don't want to pay extra to get a trendy piece tailored, so I'll probably pass. The swimsuits are cute though!

Not going to waste time on the Ref29 thread but I do like Lily and might check out the Target line, but so often stock in anything there is dismal. Fabrics for most of these collabs are crummy.
