And first I thought I might be on my way to big changes in my style -- away from lots of color to lighter, more subdued shades, but I've realized that sometimes I just want to lighten up a bit. I suspect this is about adding, rather than editing. I'm not talking about building the size of my wardrobe. Instead, I'd like to make sure that I have a few lighter shades to mix in with my standby jewel tones (cobalt, sapphire, deep purple, teal, raspberry) and blue/black neutrals. Like Angie, I'm trying to restrict grey in my wardrobe as I move forward, and am interesting in more brown accents (although mine will be darker than Angie's).
The best light tones for me are soft optic white, chambray blue, aqua, and a clear mid or hot pink. Most pastels fall flat on me. Anyone see another color I should try?
I found this floaty top at Kohls while shopping for DD's summer jean shorts. I picked it up for it's calm blue, and, even with the required cami, it would be quite cool on hot summer days. I can pair it with white and faded blue bottoms (both pants and shorts), and I have chambray and denim jackets, and a white anorak, that will work for toppers. It's not expensive, and I'd see it as a summer refresher that I'd wear again next year.
I think it's pretty, but is it right for me? Lighter is good, but washed out is not. Floaty is good, but boxy is not. Abstract is good, but strange prints are not.
Keep or Pass? Sorry about the crazy flash photos and the smug expression in #3 -- yikes!
