White shoes can be tough. I love mine. I wore them a lot this summer. However, they definitely took some getting used to. If you've owned lots of pairs of white shoes and you know exactly how these would fit into your wardrobe, or if this is a price point that lets you experiment without feeling too bad if it doesn't work out, then I think you should go for white/ecru. On the other hand, if you haven't owned white shoes recently, or these are expensive enough that they'll have to really work for you, then I think you should go with your original plan. I feel like you have to be absolutely in love with the shoes--in white--in order to make them work. Mine took a lot of thinking and a lot of mixing up my standard clothes pairings to make work. They still aren't super functional in my wardrobe. But I love them. They are beautiful and comfortable and they look fabulous with jeans. All that is enough for me to make it work and feel good about them.
