We were trying to figure out the skull -- J thinks it's a possum.
Peri, this is east Texas -- near Tyler. We did get down to Austin for a couple of days since my stepsons' band was playing at SXSW, so we drove through a little bit of hill country, which is so beautiful with wildflowers in March! I'd like to spend a bit more time there sometime.
Pil, yes! The other catahoula is Woody. He is still in puppy mode and it's tough to get a good selfie with him. Sunny has mellowed and is a total sweetheart. They are both good cattle dogs. I took the pugs there with me too, but they are not very good cattle dogs. They are, however, perfect little indoor ranch cuddle companions. Still, we had some nice little walks together.
Rachy, I wish we had a garden like that! LOL Although J is planting some trees and rosebushes in the yard around the ranch house. Those pics were from Tyler. There are some beautiful neighborhoods there and spring is the nicest time to see them!
Thanks for all the nice words. My friend and his kids had a great time. Three 11yo girls and a 15yo boy! And my friend took early morning, pre-dawn walks around the ranch, which he loved. He and his family love the outdoors and connecting with nature, so this was a nice variation on their usual routine of going to the national parks, or a beach destination. I know that missing his wife was in all of our hearts during their visit, but the whole experience seemed to be very therapeutic and relaxing for them. When they got back home, he texted me that there were tears the next morning, from some girls who didn't want to go back to school -- they wanted to come back to Texas! I told him that just means we'll have to schedule a repeat visit soon.
