I’m curious what your stance is on masking, indoor vs outdoor events etc after having been vaccinated and double boosted? I’ve been religiously masking for 2 years and so far neither I nor my husband have gotten it. However before it was officially recognized here in the USA I was very sick for two weeks with flu like symptoms but not lower respiratory — this was before we could test for the virus or for antigens. So it’s possible I did have it, who knows.
A good friend of mine and her husband flew to vacation in Alaska. They now have Covid and are quarantined in a cabin there. They had cold symptoms, aches and fever but she said she’d had worse colds before. She had been very careful to mask but had loosened up some after being boosted. I asked her if getting Covid had changed her attitude about masking and she said yes she was going back to her masked ways and outdoor socializing only which surprised me.
DH works with one or two people unmasked daily, and doesn’t want to mask anymore. He recently got back from a conference where 2% of people were masking and he was not one of them. I promptly went camping when he got back, and we are isolating from each other in separate ends of the house (at my request) until he can test 5 days after his last flight. Each side has a separate HVAC unit so no air flowing from one side to the other. For me this is an odds thing, because he is more likely to get it from hundreds of people than the two people he works with.
Our area is highly vaccinated and 2/3 people still mask here. I go back and forth on whether to continue to mask or not mask, because I really don’t want to get it, but it looks like we are going to be living with this virus indefinitely like the common cold. And because of the fact that my husband will not mask anymore, my efforts are kind of futile.
What are you doing after boosters?
