Lex v. Vicar--oops NAS post

I haven't made time to really evaluate in my closet (plus it's been so hot) but I've been thinking about function. Frye Veronica's in slate are my only light boot--too wide around the calf for all but short dresses and mostly worn with skinny jeans. As much as I love the Lex, I think the Vicar will work just as well and will be easier to keep clean. I'm posting some comparison pics with what I wore the last couple of days so they're not the best pairings but good enough to evaluate how they work with hemlines... Opinions welcome...especially if you think I should keep both. Haha! Thanks in advance!

The shaft height really makes a significant difference, but even more than that, the matching sole of the Lex gives a completely different look. The monotone looks more polished, less RATE... sleeker.

If this is a color of footwear you will wear frequently, the two are different enough that the Lex would earn its keep, I think.

Ok. This is really tough. I love the high shaft of the Lex, but maybe feel the Vicar is more *you.* The Vicar has complexity…

Thanks, Echo and rachy! The solid white is surprisingly refreshing! If I didn't work in such a grimy environment I wouldn't hesitate. That's it, I need a new job!
@rachy: Thanks for the hair compliment. It's way more patchy than usual but I'm getting used to it.

Both boots are fun on you - maybe there is a place in your wardrobe for both ?
I still love dark sole and contrast stitching - personal preference of course.

They both look great, but if you can have only one my vote goes to the Vicar. I like the shorter length of the boot best when worn with longer skirts.

I’m bad at this…and you know i love the SE Lex….
for me, the buckle strap at the top of the shaft on the Vicar causes me to stumble with jeans and pants, so I’d recommend trying with jeans as well (I know its so hard to do that in the heat of the summer)
but i can see either and or both working really well for you, and both look fab…

Sorry, I don’t know which is which because I haven’t been following NAS. But I much prefer the higher shaft boots with your skirts and dresses. I like the contrast stitching of the other pair and I think they would look great with jeans. (So you could keep both!)

This is tough, I love them both! I do like the sleeker look of the Lex with dresses but I love the dark sole on the Vicar. Would these be worn more with dresses or jeans?

I like them both! I could see making a case for two different pairs of light colored boots, especially in your climate. (But I understand work realities might dictate a different choice.)

But if you can’t, I would pick a shorter pair for you - proportions are better when worn with a longer skirt.

I'm with Irina. I slightly prefer the height of the Vicar and seem more your style, but I really like both on you. This is a tough decision!

I’m not as much a white boot fan so I know I lean more towards Vicar. But I also like the shaft height better and the tie- in if dark sole with your hair and likely dark colors in your prints abd solids. Or thinking, not only the items you have now but what direction. Do you want to follow where the Lex may direct wardrobe purchases or the Vicar.
You’re showing boots with very summery outfits with lighter colors , but would you wear them that way usually, or lots, or do you have fall dresses and skirts ? And agree about pants- how they work with cropped or full lengths. Might see which is more versatile.
I understand keeping both, but not sure that really helps your wardrobe, unless one is more fab with dresses and one more with pants and you are on a lighter footwear journey.
Last , but should be first- comfort. Any niggling comfort issues will make you less likely to wear often.

You know, it's funny...I like the Lex better with the first dress. And the Vicar better with the skirt and top outfit. I'm generally more a fan of the dark sole as it's more low-maintenance, but they both look good and serve the same purpose, so I'm not sure I can enable enough to encourage you to keep both. I'd go with comfort and versatility.

I prefer the Vicar. The other one seems too tall. The softer colors of the Vicar seems better for you, too.

Vicar. (I realize I'm the only one on the forum who doesn't care for the Lex in this colour.) The height of the Vicar works best for you , in my opinion.

I like the Vicar better because it includes dark color in with the white for nice bookending of your hair. To me that seems more versatile than an all-cream boot, but I sadly lack the ability to keep stains away from white/cream clothes and shoes…so it’s hard to be impartial!

Both look great on you. I prefer the Vicar, because the lower shaft seems better proportioned and I prefer the darker sole, for reasons others have mentioned - it suits your vibe, bookends your hair, and for some reason the lighter sole gives me a "nursing shoe" vibe. FWIW, I bought the Vicar 2 seasons ago (see finds, below) and I love them. They are so comfie and I wear them often (well, pre-Covid) and I always get compliments.

I vote for the Vicar, very much your vibe. I also like the Lex (which I bought) so if you can keep 2, I would since you like the fit of both. Save the Lex for going out?

Fun contest. I really like both but the Vicar feels more "you." I do think I'd try it with the pants/ skirts you'd actually wear them with, though, just to be sure.
