I was playing with styling my new jeans when I realized I was completely and utterly out of time! Does this ever happen to you? The outfit is OK, but not as refined (or as holiday) as I would like!

I like the memories of Levis -- even though Calvin Klein and Jordache eclipsed the 501s in high school. I like the red tag, the heavier denim, the simple, iconic pocket.

I bought my first pair of skinnies 3 years ago, when I was lurking, but not yet participating, in YLF. As I mentioned earlier this week, these, after 3 winters stuffed into boots, were thin and frayed in the inner thigh. Danger!

After trying on 25 pairs, I finally ended up replacing my Levi's with --- Levi's! These are indeed the midrise skinny, which hadn't fit in my usual size when I tried them on at Kohls, and were too short, to boot. The ones I purchased were in a different wash, in a weightier denim, too. They actually fit a little looser (and better) than my former pair, with a little scrunch (I hope this will last with washing. I tried to size up for comparison, but I ended up with excess fabric in the crotch, which I knew would get worse with wear and stretching.

Now, some of the other "models" of Levi's had slightly smaller pockets, which I prefer, and I still think I'll try to find a more "high style" skinny, in a dark indigo wash, for a dressier look. Still, I'm happy to be wearing a classic today.
