Crop tops - those midriff bearing little tops which look so ridiculously tiny on the hanger that I sometimes wonder if I've mistakenly wandered into the children's section or if an entire line of clothing somehow shrank in the wash.
Yet I've been seeing more and more of them recently. They are all over the big online clothing retailers (e.g. Asos). The more I saw of them, the more they grew on me. Now to be sure, I do not have a perfectly flat stomach (who does?) but I decided I wanted to try them out anyway.
I'm 24 yrs old and I love retro and classic looks. I was wondering if a crop top paired with high waisted skirt/trousers would be classy or appropriate. These would obviously be in casual settings and most definitely not for work etc.
What do you think? Do you have to be below a certain age to wear crop tops? Can they be tasteful?
Below are some outfits I put together with the ones I purchased from Asos. I liked the look, but as someone who has been self-conscious about her tummy for a while, I can see myself having to pluck up the courage to actually wear them outside.
p.s. I'd probably pair the black high waisted pants with either a low pointed heel or black boots rather than the brown boots, but that's just what I was wearing at the time.
