Let's say someone hands you a chunk of money . . .

. . . not an obscene, once-in-a-lifetime chunk (like a "I can buy a status symbol I would never ever buy myself in a million years"), but a nice sum-- what is the very first thing you'd go out and buy ASAP?

I'm shooting for fashion-wise responses, but if you really have something else on the brain (travel, a new toy, ect) that will work too.

What would be your first instinct? How about the top 5?

Oh Elly, the pressure! Lol. I think I would give my wardrobe un update with the following Rick Owens peices.

1. & 2. 2 x Short tunic drape dresses (different styles)
3. Harem leggings
4. Skinny leg jeans (black)
5. Tube clutch

A pair of Zero and Maria Cornejo shorts I've been waiting for a sale on for months now. Though I still don't know if I would pay full price, because I think they'll go on sale soon enough.

I think I'd buy a traditional Spanish cape. I have been thinking about that for a few years now, and I may eventually buy one some day. They cost about 600 euros.

People think I am crazy but I really like Spanish capes and I would certainly wear it even if it is considered a peculiar garment:

I like the look of Runcarla's list!
I always think I know what I'd do with a windfall, but when the time comes I'm usually frozen with fear of squandering it so the decision becomes so much harder.
For me I'd like to add something that will last (so not shoes). Things I'd like, but I want a better quality than my budget will allow:

Nice Handbag - haven't identified which but Kate Spade or Dooney & Bourke are on my radar

I don't really have any lifetime fashion longings. What I would like now is:
A coatdress
A pair of pointed toe chelsea boots
A darkly patterned jean or substantial cotton pants in black or navy, with an amount of raspberry or magenta and some white or cream.
A pair of cuff bracelets that I've always like the idea of but am not sure if I would find them interfering to actually wear

3) Gravati Python Loafers

Since those 3 items are so obscene (like even if I had the money I would find myself super hard pressed to buy them since they just cost too much - I should be saving for my future)

I don't really follow / lust after high end brands so I don't have a bucket list - although, Hermes scarf did peak my interest! I'd be off to the higher-end mall to check out J Crew, Kate Spade and Tory Burch, all fairly new to Canada too, plus see what all the fuss is about at Holt Renfrew

A Hermes scarf is not really my style, but I'd put it on the list for the sheer experience of shopping for it - to go to the store on the Faubourg Saint-Honoré and have the salesperson unfurl beautiful scarf after scarf for my consideration. I've seen it and wished it could be me - definitely one of my bucket list experiences.

OMG, everything has broken in our house since January...and there are still things to fix and take care of.

But let me fantasize ( on three fronts...hey it is a fantasy ) :

1. I would buy a woman's bike ( mine is a man's and as I shrink with age, the darn top cross bar is giving me problems...but maybe a pair of nice heels would fix that ..hmmm...wedge sneakers. )

2. I would absolutely, no questions asked, fly to California from MA again for the SoCal Shoptoberfest . And buy a Burberry trench and squeal with all the other ladies who I know would be excited for me. That is how fabbers are.

3. I would attend the Women in the World Conference in NYC.

I'd buy Louis Vuitton luggage and 2 tickets to Milan, skim down Runcarla's list, add a few coats and jackets for my husband and myself, dresses and handbags and travel Europe leisurely (2-3 months)- Germany, Belgium, Amsterdam, France, London and Switzerland. I'd like to return and make a travel book of photographs and thoughts of the places we visit, food we ate etc..(a job I want to do right now). Heaven.

Easy! Two leather jackets - a winter one, ideally in a lovely ink blue like the Veda 'Max' one that Norstrom just sold out of, and a spring/summer one in blush, nude or dirty cream.

If I had any left over, I'd also get a wonderful trench.

1. A trip to Tahiti for me, DH and DS - have always wanted to go there ever since seeing Marlon Brando in Mutiny on the Bounty. The scenery was so gorgeous (well....so was he, but I digress...)

2. A Valentino handbag.

2. Rx sunglasses if they can be made not to slide down my nose
3. Leather moto or maybe fly to Canada to make a trip to Danier
4. Perfect shoes/booties in 6.5C or 7C
5. Additional pair of glasses if I'm not seduced by more footwear

Rx for specs tend to run me close to $500, and my flat nose is hard to fit.
