In he last few months I bought a few pairs of chinos. 2 colors from Banana Republic and one from Anthro. Every time I wear them or think about wearing them I am somehow dissatisfied. I don't like tucking in tops because it makes my short-waistedness more pronounced. Wearing a looser top seems to accentuate the inherent looseness in the chinos and it makes the whole ensemble feel sloppy. I'm trying to figure out if I need to learn how to style them, or whether I just don't like them.

Here are some of the ways I'd describe them and of course some of this is subjective:

very casual alternative to jeans
youthful
relaxed, slouchy, sometimes a bit "rumpled"
the fabric tends to wrinkle a bit with wear and they typically do not have a front/back crease
usually worn a little bit loose
fabric very soft or moderately soft, usually cotton/woven
in the menswear camp, in fact probably have been around longer as a men's style than a women's style
can be worn as a trouser or as a rolled hem style

For those of you who do wear them, why do you like them and how do you style them?
For those who do NOT wear them, why do you not wear them?

Not judging either way, just trying to sort out my feelings on them.

Thanks!
