Well, my epiphany the other day about buying quality and being able to return it has had a ripple effect. I not only hit Nordie's for the BF's xmas gift yesterday, but I clicked on the Loft 40% off banner here today. I thought, "why not? I can return it if it doesn't work out." Well, half way through trying to load the cart with basic turtle and boatneck pieces, I found they sell out from beneath you while you're not looking! Frustrating. So, I grabbed rather hastily what else I was contemplating in my cart before it disappeared. I hope to not regret the snap decision.

Then I headed to Target for simple layer pieces. Hope I have luck with the tissue tee turtlenecks I found.

I may have saved shipping but I spent $100 I otherwise wouldn't have! I mean, I know I needed these since my old turtlenecks gave way well over 3 years ago - but I was really trying to SYC through to the end. Sigh, I guess I couldn't make do anymore with all my old, too short tops once the weather turned.

Hope your new items work out. I've had pleasant success with Target's layering pieces. The tissue materials are quite sheer though, so I usually layer a cami underneath.

Lisa, good to know. Thanks. I had the opposite trouble of my old turtlenecks being very chunky and thick and not laying well on the body. I'll be happy if these are tissue soft and floaty on the torso.

I am almost thankful that ATL doesn't ship free to here for this very reason! Their stuff sells out so quickly. I can't wait to see what you got and how it all looks!

I got some great tissue turtlenecks from JCrew last fall (gray and navy). I'm not sure if they have the same ones this year but they're perfectly "floaty on the torso" as you said. I THINK it's these ones, though I haven't felt them this year to know if it's the same weight material:

Thanks, Aida - if the Target ones don't work out, I now have another option At the moment I am scouring for a ruffle front halter. Mid search, it dawned on me that I'm looking for a top just like one I let 'get away' this summer. I didn't buy it at the time because it seemed to dressy for summer, but now I realize that was a big mistake - sigh. Where is the time machine when you need it?
