Returning after a good many months to Angie's recommendation that I add a fitted cropped black jacket to my work wardrobe, here are 2 I tried on yesterday.

I know the details are almost impossible to see on black items (especially when I have my phone in the way) so I'm just asking about length - which one is better (pic 1-2 or 3), or are neither what I should be looking for?

The longer jacket, BTW has a funny flare in the back which isn't really captured in the photo, but which I think I could get altered.

I prefer the longer jacket....I think I like it because it emphasizes your slim waist. Anyway see what others think.

Is #3 by Metalicus?

It depends what you are planning on wearing it with. #1 is very 'classic' and the other is a bit more fashion forward to my way of thinking and probably more comfy to wear.

Wow, great eyes(Debs:-))!!! thus I prefer the longer one with this skirt, and the flare in the back doesn't bother me, it looks like a special detail, so no need to alter:-).

It depends on how you plan to wear it, Anne -- with what outfits. I like the longer one here, but the shorter one looks like an interesting texture.

I like the length of the 1st jacket with what you're wearing, but tell me about the shoulders. I can't tell if they are gathered, or padded or hitched up so you can take the photo. The second looks good (really good) but I would wear it with something different.

Thanks everyone - I suppose I'm looking for something to wear with my longer skirts - not so much with the dress I was wearing yesterday.

BrieN - the shoulders are gathered.

Suz - yes the shorter jacket is very textured - not sure if I like that or not.

Lyn67 - the weird flare looks fine in the photo, I know - but it does look strange in real life!

Thanks Angie. That particular jacket was from a sales rack so probably I can't size up but just wanted to know if that's the length I should be looking for.

If you wear it with a dress that is not so fitted through the waist/thigh I like 3 because it will give the illusion of longer legs.
I prefer #1 with what you have on in the picture, and with fitted skirts.

I like the first one with this dress, but agree with Angie that it might be a touch small. Good length though

I like the longer jacket but it looks very tight buttoned up. The length of the jacket is great though.
