I'm 5'7" and wear an 11. My foot's on the narrow side of medium, and low volume. I totally get what you're saying, and it used to bug me too. My current strategy is to not care, and it works the best by far. But it took a few decades to get there, so I feel your pain.
Wide-legs and boot-cuts mean less of your foot is showing. Cropped tapered pants with some skin showing looks better to me than full-length skinnies, too.
Shoes with horizontal lines (cap-toe ballets, mary janes, boots with a seam across the toe, shoelaces that tie in an extra-big bow ...) visually break up the length of the foot. I find skipping the last set of eyelets on my sneakers (so the bow is a little further from my ankle) makes some difference. I don't like tightly tied shoes anyhow, so this may not be universally practical.
I've never been a fan of pointy toes for comfort reasons, but they are the least flattering toe shape for a long foot too, I find round toes and square toes (another horizontal line!) the best for both comfort and foot flattery.
Ironically, I find "clumpy" shoes also distract from overall foot size. Because wedge heels, thick soles, etc. are supposed to take up visual space, I guess?
PS -- I love Converse. I tend to cuff my jeans when wearing them to show some skin (again, extra horizontal line) when wearing them.
