Leg Cast

Hi, Ive just been toldI have to be in a long leg cast for the next 10 weeks (on my second day so a long way to go). Does anybody have any fashion tips? Jeans are out at the weekend so its dresses and skirts. Ive got fairly nice toes..... weather permitting is it ok to have toes open or should I cover them at work, I work in The City so its quite smart. Also tights ok? Should I cut the bottom off and tuck it in? Any suggestions help. J

So sorry you have to be in this cast. You might start with comfortable footwear. Tall boots come to mind. Consider how you will look sitting. Your footwear will probably be very visible. Tall boots come to mind.

Thanks Joy, thats a great point re siting. Apparently you get through a lot of shoes as you wear them down quickly due to crutching everywhere. I'll have to re think my entire wardrobe.

Depends on the cast,is it a full weight bearing cast?or a boot style?I should think that you would struggle to get tights over a full cast.Most people leave their toes out,l hope you have good circulation because my toes get cold even in socks!

Its a full leg cast, tow to thigh..... the worst kind, but Im going to embrace it, no point in moaning and wishing away the days!.... no more skiing for a while!..... My toes were really cold today so I wore a sock... but in the office I may not. I managed to get tights over it after cutting off the right leg. Long skirts might be difficult on crutches but sitting down in short skits may be too revealing. I cant wear leggings at work and trousers just wont work with this kind of cast. Its a problem.

My sister and I both sustained broken bones in the leg within a couple months of each other.

She eventually had to use a wheelchair, at which point she found midi wrap skirts a godsend. They covered everything (one leg was immobilized straight out in front of her) without having to go on over the foot.

If you think leggings will work, surely your office would relax the dress code for you, given the circumstances...

OH! I'm sorry. Hang in there.

Flared skirts and dresses sound best. Knee length or midi. Not maxi. Yes to leggings and cutting off the one leg. Add a sock to the cold foot that matches something in the outfit.

Continue putting effort into hair and makeup as that will make you feel more pulled together. Good luck
