Pretty conservative here so I will sound rather rainy. It just has a connotation...Tights definitely help the look. So the actual length of a "mini" is critical, IMO.
At work recently, a younger employee who has been taking on a larger role(administrative) wore a leather miniskirt and tall leather boots (both black) and bare legs. When I saw her walking down the hall I was pretty amazed, and not in a good way. I have no idea if these days anyone would dare "advise" her on wardrobe (not my job, that's for sure). . I just assume everyone has my narrow style filter!
Of coures, that's work, not fun night out.
Anyways, I think that skirt looks pretty short for any skirt --but the proof is in the measurements and the trying-on, as we know about height variations--so there are logistical problems to actually wearing a short straight skirt, and so the message to me is, I want to show a whole lot of my legs, up to here, and then add the connotations of leather. It is short enough for short shorts. Annagybee's skirt was pretty short, but also full, so has a different kind of impact and also functions differently with movement. I think an above knee, but not true mini looks better, but that's just me.
