Leather leather leather - the jacket and skirt both came! K/R?

I'll leave my commentary out of it and simply ask Note that I don't necessarily plan on wearing these 2 pieces together lol!

I love everything about the jacket, it's a 10 for me.

I want to love the skirt but I'm not sure of how it flutes out at the bottom. I prefer how straight the skirt looks in the stock photo. I do think the length is great on you.

I like the skirt and if you don't mind the stretch lines due to the spandex part stretching and the leather not, I say keep. It looks like it could be a standby piece for a long time.

Not so thrilled with the jacket but I like a smoother leather look, or suede - and this matte finish isn't as exciting to me. And personally I'm not fond of the open collar. But the fit seems decent. The more important question is do you like it? Will it work into your wardrobe, daily style needs?

The jacket for sure...assuming you'll be able to get some wear from it, of course!

The skirt I am feeling meh about. I know it is tough to photograph such items; the shine comes across much higher with a flash than IRL and contributes to a little strangeness in the look. But as Julie says, it seems to fan out in a weird way and the bottom, and the wrinkles across the front don't please my eye too much either. I can only imagine they would get worse after you sat down for any length of time.

I love the jacket! It is perfect for you. I'm not sure about the skirt. You know I love me a short body con-skirt but something about the stripes in the front and back make it cross over into slightly tacky territory.

The jacket fits great, and it looks great on you. Personally, I'm not crazy about the fuzzy collar, but that's just my personal taste, so if you like it, I say go for it. How does it look open?

I want to love the skirt but I'm afraid the pulling between the leather and stretchy areas really bugs me, especially right along the center front. (I have a very strong psychological aversion to center front ruching or puckering though, so maybe others don't have as visceral a reaction).

Diana, I totally 'get' personal quirks about stuff! As for the jacket, I wouldn't wear it open, and the zip is low enough that it doesn't feel confining in the least zipped up.
I wonder about the skirt . . . but I *always* have this issue with pencil skirts (might be why I never end up wearing them). They seem snug in the hip but not snug enough near the bottom. Doesn't matter if it's wool, or leather, or whatever - it never fails on me. Perhaps wearing tights under would change the silhouette some and smooth it? (of course I don't have any here in FL lol).

Like everybody else, I love the jacket but not the skirt. To me it's something about the length, the fact it goes outward at the hem, the fit around your hips... you've got such a lovely figure and this skirt manages to tame it, somehow. I think it is too short too. When you sit, are you comfortable with what is being revealed?

The jacket is so cool. I mean, I bet it is warm, too! Love the collar and the fit on you, especially in the back.

I would return the skirt. The pulling bothers me, and you can actually see it even on the model - I think it's an issue with the leather joining the ponte, like someone said. Maybe an all-stretchy skirt would work better for you? I think pencil skirts are hard for everyone, there's a really small window of opportunity in between frumpy and overly tight.

Love the jacket. Should be perfect for CA! I think you can do better on the skirt. If you never love pencil skirts, there are some cute short flouncy leather skirts this season...

Mo, tapered pencil skirts do exist, but they are harder to find than the straight-cut ones. It's not you, it's the skirt! I vote to keep looking.

The jacket looks fab on you. Please keep.

Ooh, the jacket fits!! I really love it on you - and it is edgier than your other winter jackets, so I personally do think it has a place in your wardrobe. But then you already knew I loved the jacket, so I may be biased.

At first I thought the skirt was rouched on the sides of the panels, but now I see that it is pulling... not really a fan of that, unfortunately. As many others have said, a tapered pencil would probably work better.

I'd like to see better pictures of the jacket. I can't quite see what's happening at the shoulders (and you know that's what I'm sensitive about). Obviously I'm the only one questioning it so far, though.

I'm confused about the skirt. I like it a lot in the pic but not so much IRL, where the pulling shows. Which one is this? Where's it from?

The skirt is BB Dakota and I think it would look great on a straighter, less hippy figure. Course, that's what models are, right? lol I got this off eBay (I sized up one and 6pm only had 4's left). But the seller told me the waist was 30" when in fact it is 31 3/4". big difference. I'm wearing it low on the hip instead of my waist. I'm going to see about return but don't have my hopes up.

Oh, and Una, the jacket collar is what you see flipping out to the sides. It has zips that I didn't unzip for the pics that helps the flaps lay a bit more flat. Honestly, my hair is always everywhere anyway so collars play hide and seek ha ha.

Perhaps this is just the camera flash, but it looks like the panels of the jacket do not match in colour or finish. This is most apparent in picture 8 where it is shown with full flash, so perhaps it doesn't show the difference in normal light. And given that I'm the only one to mention it, maybe it doesn't bother anyone else!

The skirt I am not completely sold on. Could it be tailored to taper slightly?

I'm with Una that the shoulders are hard to see in your pics but the back shot makes them seem to really flare out -- do they do the same on the front? The skirt is not really perfect so I guess it should go back. The jacket is definitely a style you could use and it looks like it fits well. I'm not usually a "fuzzy" jacket person either but I did find a nice denim jacket with fleece lining at resale recently and I just had to have it. It made me smile when I put it on for some odd reason.

Echo, that was my next thought - if I can't return the skirt I already looked at the seam and it seems an easy taper job to help it along
Not sure on the mismatch you mention on the jacket - the front panels are both lined in the shearling, and so a bit thicker across the front. Maybe that smooths them out a bit visually compared to the non shearling sides??

If you have this problem with all pencil skirts, it's an easy enough alteration to have it narrowed. That said, I don't know how it would work with a skirt like this that has stretchy fabric on the side. May stretch out anyway.

I am also not crazy about the skirt, but this may be my personal preference. The way I figure it, if you are going to do leather, then you do it in a demure silhouette to tame it down. So I'd want a skirt at the knee, and not any shorter.

I was going to say what Shiny said. I'd love to see you wear a knee length leather skirt and put your personal style on it. I guess if it's leather it can go into party mode quickly so having the length reals it back in.

I can see how the skirt could look boxy, for now I'm sort of stuck with this skirt . . . but the seller has discussed a $20 refund due to quoting incorrect size measurements. No refund yet, but if/when I see it, I'm thinking it can cover the alteration to narrow the skirt. I'm not at all worried about the length, interestingly. It's only a couple inches above my knees, nowhere near as short as on the model! (After all, I don't work in an office or anything - these clothes are for 'me' time.)

Mo, if you are fine with the length, then honestly I would not bother narrowing it. I like how it flares out a bit. That is the look, for a skirt that length. To my eye, at least! My own comment was about leather + length. If we ignore that, and just talk length + shape, then I think this is JUST RIGHT shape for that length. I would not want to see this narrowed/pencil shaped. I think the proportions would be off. I do not see boxy at all.
