Normally I don't wear a leather jacket with a leather bottom because I don't want to look like a biker babe.

But then I saw this image where this model is wearing a leather jacket and skinnies. Does this work because of the different colors and added texture of the sweater? Or is not a look for a mere mortal like myself?

Truly laid back luxe, gorgeous. I think the inclusion of the cable sweater provides some textural interest and the different color of the leather pieces (soft grey lining of jacket, etc) make it totally doable for you or mere mortals. Looks cozy and tough to me. Please do try this.

It does look very good in the picture. I am wondering about real life, though. I think the leather texture of the pants would stand out more walking along the street than in a photo. But then it also helps that there is not much hardware or moto detail on either item - takes away some of the biker-ness. Maybe try it out at home and see how you feel?

Second of al, I think this outfit is great and I would wear it myself. Same principle as wearing a white denim jacket with blue jeans,or a blue denim jacket with colored jeans.

I love it. I agree that the different colors, lack of extra hardware, roomy fit of the jacket, and the long sweater all help to reduce any biker babe vibes. Low heels help too.

I don't like it on the model. I have started out saying that about several new trends and after my fashion eye adjusuted to the new look, I not only liked it but wore it. My opinion could change.

I love it, and yes, I think it's because it's not all black. Also, I think the textures/weight of the "leathers" make the outfit more refined. I mean, a real biker jacket is RATE all the way.

I LOVE this from the front but do wonder how it reads from behind when there is less variation in texture on display?

Oh I think it's fabulous and I would love to see your take on this look. Classic shapes, don't you think? Super-high quality pieces, each one carrying their own weight but not really competing for the spotlight. A really well-balanced ensemble.

I do think you could do this. The different textures, especially the rich texture f the white sweater, really set it apart.

Oh, and trust me, nooooo biker babe looks like that. I live in a suburb of Milwaukee. And it's Harley's 110th anniversary this weekend. Seen waaaaaay more than my fair share of biker babes. ;).

It definitely works well, and I think you are right, it's because the leather is 2 different colors. Also the knit sweater softens it, and it helps that the pants are very simple. I love it! You should give it a try!

Without the visual I might say it wouldn't work, but this to me is incredibly stylish. It has an elements of elegance, textural interest and I am taken by the simplicity of it. I say it's worth a try. I do think the lining? of extra layer of the jacket is a pretty important component in making this look work.

I think this works because the jacket doesn't read 'biker'. It has a totally different vibe, which contrasts nicely with the leather pants. Provided I had leather black pants, I wouldn't mind pairing them with my caramel leather jacket.

If you are not feel comfortable with leather jacket then try the Leather Vests. Leather vest also stylish.
