Layer tank/cami - halogen vs hanro

Anyone seen or tried either of these in person? (Anna, I think you have mentioned the Hanro before.) Is there a marked difference from one to the other? I have touched the BP cami so many here like and it's not for me. I want a cotton blend with soft soft straps, not the 'satin' or other such contrast material. I find it highly irritating, especially under the arms. TIA.

The only Hanro item I have is a pair of boy shorts in nude that I bought to wear under a white dress. Hanro is really good though.

I have the Halogen one in XXS. It is very soft. I felt like it ran a little big; the XXS fits me OK, but I generally prefer my tanks to be tight-fitting enough that they stretch on my torso. I feel like it is so soft that it almost lacks structure, if that makes any sense. Is that the kind of tank you are looking for?

Gigi, yes, thanks! I want soft more than anything. Don't need cinching or slickness. I just want a huggable under layer for certain low neck tops and for sweaters.
Now my issue is that I see my normal size small is sold out. Dare I try an xs or even a petite small? Wonder if the petite would cut into my armpits . . .

I had a hanro cami. It was cuddly, but the contrasting strap was a bit irritating and it was too short..

If you're ordering from nordies for the haligen, just get one if each size to try out. At worse, it's another trip to the post office.

LOL BJ - good point! Actually the Nordie's return label comes in the box so I can just put a note on the mailbox for porch pick up
I have seen that Hanro has a couple of cami options and I think this is the one without that darn irritating strap. But I'll try the thicker, bra hiding, Halogen straps first anyway. Besides, it's a better price and I can get 2 colors!

I haven't tried these but wanted to say thank you for showing them to me! It's so hard to find camis without spandex these days. I also like super soft, non clingy (hence the no spandex), and quite thin camis for layering.

its been a few years since i bought the hanro, but the cotton on the ones i own is soft and silky, you could not wear it as a stand alone shirt.

Love the Hanro camisoles and tanks. The basic tank runs surprisingly long, does not twist with repeated washing (even in a bag on cold delicate, my Halogens do), and lasts forever (not my Halogens). It is perhaps too thin to wear alone (at least for me) and the selection of colors is slim. It is sometimes (season? retailer?) hard to find their un-embellished camis. The best wear-alone, self-edged tank I've seen is an EF.

Mo, I measured my XXSP Halogen tank for you to help you decide.

Top of strap to bottom of armhole: 7.25"
Bottom of armhole to bottom of tank: 16.5"
Bottom center of neckline to bottom of tank: 17.25"
Bust (base of armhole to base of armhole): 28"

A note about the bust...I am about 31.5" in the bust, and the 28" here does not seem too small to me at all. The material is so soft and stretchy that it is not a problem. In fact, I wouldn't have minded the tank being even smaller in the bust for me.

As to the straps, I don't know how successful you would be getting them to hide bra straps. At their smallest point, they are only .5" wide.

If you are wanting a soft tank, I would definitely say give the Halogen a try. It is not constricting in any way.

Thanks for the nitty gritty deets, Gigi! I will have to go measuring some armholes . . . I agree that the bust in these soft tanks can be very stretchy. I'm 34.5 so I'd like about 30" minimum.
And to be clear, since I've seen some comments on them being thin or not good as stand alone pieces, I am eyeing them as under layers. I'm pretty sure I mentioned under sweaters or low necked tops. I've been over slim tanks as stand alone pieces for a while now.
I may have the chance to duck into Nordie's this Sunday (seems like we are going to Tampa every month now!) so I will wait to see in person if possible.
