Hello.

A consignment shop was doing a flash sale (everything $1 for 4 hours) of their summer items to clear stock for fall. Here's what came home with me.

#1 to #4 - Printed Shorts by Ann Taylor Loft and Kelly Green JCrew Tank
The tank and shorts are from the sale. I own a lot of shorts, but none of them are printed so these are a fun addition. DH wasn't a fan of the green tank with the shorts, I'll try a navy or white tank next time.

#5 to #7 - Blue Printed Hatley Dress
With all the t-shirts I wear, it was only a matter of time until a t-shirt dress was added to my wardrobe.

I love the shorts! I have two pairs of patterned shorts - stripes and tie dye. I mostly wear plain shorts, but every now and then I wear the patterned ones and they make a big impact.

Great dress! I have been doing a lot of late summer shopping to fill holes revealed by several months of working through our summer wardrobes. I have also been tackling our lists for fall. We seemed to tear through clothing at an unusual rate, perhaps because I had been adding fewer new things each season for the last few years and it all caught up to us? My August things included finding some great cords for Fall at Boden and Talbots, and a refresh of lightweight fall turtles and sweaters at Elie Tahari and Ann Taylor. I also replaced some tan flats and as a treat added a small tan Jason Wu bag. I don’t have anything else on my list and can take a break!

I don't think I have ever done any seasonal shopping--I usually just buy things as I need them. Once again, great dress! For a person who "doesn't wear a lot of dresses," you seem to have a good sense of what works. Everything else is cute, too--hard to pass up on those shorts--I agree.

Often I find that my partner’s eye just needs time to adjust to a new styling and then he denies ever disliking the item in question!

Suz - I think a printed bottom is going to be a fun addition to my wardrobe. The most adventurous my bottoms have been until now were solid colors or a texture like corduroy.

Jenni NZ, Runcarla, Lise, and Jaime - It's 4 to 1 for the green and printed shots pairing. DH just needs to adjust his eye to the look.

Angie - The line for the sale was out the door and the entire parking lot! It was insane! I was surprised to find anything. *happily collects killer rating* I think the shorts, tank, and dress were worth it though.

Roberta - DH has a very conservative style and colors, patterns, prints, trends, etc, most things fall outside his comfort zone. It's helpful to have YLF for feedback!

cat2 - You've done an excellent job tackling your fall list! My fall wardrobe should be ready for the season. After a good NAS this year, there weren't many additional items to purchase for fall. Now that I'm shifting to wearing my warm weather fall items, I can start assessing what may need a refresh for my summer wardrobe for next year.

lyn67 - You have an excellent eye. The tiny bit of green in the shorts pattern was exactly why I tried the green tank with the shorts.

Carol - I'm such a seasonal dresser it's no wonder why I will freshen up my wardrobe quarterly, I'm always shifting the colors, patterns, etc of what I wear. At one point I thought that I wanted a minimal sized wardrobe with items I wore often for a low CPW. Then I realized that I can't have a low number of items in my wardrobe AND dress in seasonal colors, patterns, prints, etc. Once I went larger in wardrobe size, and realized that a low CPW will take longer because items will not be worn year round, my happiness with my wardrobe improved.

Firecracker (Sharan) - I'm with you, after a successful NAS and a few after NAS wardrobe additions, my fall wardrobe should be finished. Of course, I never know when something fabulous may come across my path though.

merwoman - A great point, I think DH's eye may adjust over time. He's not used to be wearing printed shorts yet.

Lisa--funny you should say that--I am going through a similar battle in my head. I like minimal dressing, but it can be hard to figure out what direction to take your wardrobe if you don't buy extra pieces! I will meditate on what you said.
