Last White Pants K/R (Promise!) and Pants Fit Question

I am sorry to say I returned the skinny pipeline jeans from Paige. They were dry clean only. I just couldn't do that!

So here are the contenders.
1-2) Angie recommended Kut Catherines.
3) Paige destroyed bf jeans.
4) Current/Elliott distressed bf jeans (YLF hasn't loved these but I am oddly attracted to them, they look fresh to me, just a little different)
5) Zara trousers.

Pictures 6-7-8) Fit issue. It seems many of my pants have too long a rise. There is a fold in the crotch. All of these pants are too big in the waist. Cinching with a belt doesn't really help. Is this a sign of the slouchy trouser trend or do I need to size down?

The last picture of the Rag & Bone moto/cargo jeans shows how oddly these fit (purchased off eBay). Very snug in the thighs, loose in waist, long rise, and baggy in the knees. I am thinking I have to get these altered, as the crotch fold is driving me nuts.

I prefer 1-3. I actually think the Catherine's look really cute on you, but I would decide based on whether you want the distressing or not. They are supposed to be a little dropped in the crotch like that.

I am not sure with the crisp white trousers you show, because crisp and dropped crotch seem to be a contradiction in terms. I think the rag and bone are just cut weird. I'd size up or move on.

Ok I did read your post and ran through all the photos and I think you are right about #4. Fresh look and I prefer the fit to all the others. Proportions look good also with the semi tuck top or hi low hem. They would be my choice.

Scarlet -- the Rag & Bones were purchased off eBay. I cannot size up. You are right they are cut weird, I actually think they are a defectively sewn pair, that's why they were sold. I had first purchased a pair from Shopbop in the same size and loved them, there were no weird fit issues. Then Alaskagirl alerted me to their availability on eBay for less. So I took a chance. They were $95 used. Now they are completely sold out at Shopbop and the pair that fit me perfectly are gone, I already returned them. So frustrating. But lesson learned.

Deborah #4 is where I am leaning even though they were not everyone's prior choice. Which I think is partly because folks aren't used to seeing that silhouette as much.

I love the idea of the Zara pants but the fit is way off. I am getting a complex on pants fit right now. Everything is too big in the waist, too long in the rise -- if I want it to fit in the hip and thigh in a looser manner. I hate being curvy. I am not fat but I am curvy from every angle. I wish I were a rectangle so clothes fit me. One of the reason you guys see me either in bf jeans or skinny legging type jeans and oversized tops, those clothes fit me.

Serious body image stuff coming up from ordering all of these clothes. I shop and do fashion for fun and this is not fun.

I'm also really liking the KUT Catherines, Denise. The Paige and CE jeans too. One thing I notice in both the Paige and Current Elliotts is that they are a little less tapered at the bottom than the Catherines. If you love a wider bottom hem best (maybe that's why the CEs feel fresh to you?), then I vote CEs over Paige jeans. I agree that the Zara jeans aren't the best fit.

I'm terrible with solutions to specific fit problems, but just wanted to say: please don't let this get you down, Denise. You have an amazing figure and always, always look stunning in everything you wear. The saying really is true (I have to remind myself of that too at times): it's the clothes, not you!!

I think any of them look good, and you do have a great figure. Can you slouch the R&Bs down a little on your hips to get rid of the fold? I get that fold a lot in jeans and that is my solution.

I looked a few times and every time #4 grew on me more. You probably need heels with them, but you usually wear heels anyway.

Well, Denise, I am sorry you are struggling with body image issues. You have an amazing and enviable figure, and look terrific in all pants. The fold you see at the crotch of most of these is simply due to slouchy fit, I think. I get it, too, if the pants have a dropped crotch. To a greater or lesser degree depending on the particular pants.

To my eye, all of these look great! I love the Kuts on you, but I also like the C/E and agree that those are a little bit different in silhouette (like what Shannon posted the other day, a little bit) and if you are craving a switch up, that might be the way to go.

What a shame about those Rag and Bones. At least you can give a negative review to the seller. I hate when stuff like that happens; it really poisons the air.

Darn right it's the clothes and NOT you Denise! And don't you forget it!!! You always look incredible, with such style and I think you have a fantastic figure.

I like both the Kuts and the C/E jeans on you, but for different reasons. The Kuts have a more tapered leg and are therefore more traditionally flattering. The C/E's have the wider leg (like Suz said, similar to the ones I posted the other day) and are fresh looking. I've decided to go with the wider leg on mine and not shorten or taper as I like the "different" aspect of the fit and will just wear them with a heel. If you are going for something a bit different, I vote for the C/E's. Plus you really rock distressing and these very much suit your style.

I actually really like the Rag & Bone jeans on you and think they look amazing. I suspect the crotch fold is more obvious to you than anyone else, especially when you're walking. Like Ceit suggested, does the fold lesson if you scootch the pants down a bit on your hips?

I like the Catherines and the C/E jeans. I think I might actually have the same C/Es in light blue, although I wear mine shorter. I know you like your BFs longer though, plus you wear higher heels than me, so I actually like the length you have them here.

About the crotch fold - I get that too a lot. On me I think it's because I need a substantial back rise (at least 13", I prefer 14") in order to avoid butt crack-age, but then a lot of times the front rise is too long or too roomy. I don't have a solution except to say that you have to try a lot of things on to find one that's cut right.

Hmm, I've looked at the pics a few times, and I really do like the Catherine on you. However, I think I see the appeal of the C/Es. I have some new light-wash AG Tomboy jeans that have a similar fit, with the wider leg. I struggle with them a little bit, I think because the silhouette is so different to me. They will likely be the first real pants I wear to accommodate my post-surgery swelliness, so maybe I'll finally post a picture of them.

I totally understand how pants shopping can get to you! We have similar "issues" but I'm several sizes larger than you, so know that you have a sister in YLFdom that struggles even more than you do. I really have to watch the internal language I use with myself when trying to find pants and jeans that fit and flatter. Like you and Diana, I get that weird crotch fold with a lot of pants too -- i think it's part of having a relatively short rise.

Long rise, too big in the waist - I have got to try on those pants!

Although I like the look of the rag & bone jeans, I have a feeling that you will not be happy with them even if you get them altered. Simply because you know how good the other pair fit. That stinks about the eBay pair!

Hm, yeah, those Ebay CEs look like a totally different jean than the others you returned. I don't know if it's worth getting them altered, just because it's not 100% certain to make them perfect. Just my two cents.

I think the thing is that I really like the taper, so that is the glass through which I view the choices, but maybe you have a different preference for yourself? That is really a bummer about the Rag and Bone jeans.

Even though I get feeling that way, I was honestly surprised to read that you are feeling so frustrated about yourself. You have such a wonderful figure, even though I know that doesn't mean that finding the right fit is necessarily easy. I think you are really lucky.

ETA: these are the stock photos from the BFs I have. They clearly have the crotch thing going on.

So right now I'm torn between the Catherine's and the C/Es. Let's see if Angie and others weigh in!

I particularly appreciate hearing from other hourglasses (Diana, Janet) who have the same fit issue. This sagging crotch has gotten more pronounced on me because I have taken off a few pounds from working long hours on my feet. The weight goes off the waist not the hips/thighs and I have to remember that although I fantasize about having smaller hips/thighs, there are others who wish their waists were the place where they reduced. Grass always seems to be greener.

ETA -- And I have a theory that the garment industry cuts for rectangles because they are easier to sew! More straight lines.

I have EXACTLY the same fit issue with pants, on me I think it's because I've got a bit of a "shelf" on the backside, so I'm lopsided? in the front to back orientation (more heavily 'weighted' to the back than other measurements or even hip measurements would lend themselves to). I will look eagerly for advice on which cuts work best/how to overcome the crotch fold.

FWIW, I have NEVER seen an outfit of yours in which your body looked 'wonky' in any way, EVER. It.is.the.clothes. Really. And motivation to go for it when you find pants that you love. So go for #4. And come back to show us how well it can be done

Another vote for what a great figure you have and for #1 or #4 - depends on what you like the most, the more crisp Catherines or the more RATE C/E jeans. I could see having both for different purposes in the summer...

another vote for the 1 or 4. Can you do both or would that be overkill? They just seem to be so different in terms of crisp versus distressed. Perhaps wear each around for a bit and determine how you feel in them, and whether they bag out. I find white jeans bag out so much more than blue denim.

I like the Catherine's because of the leg taper, but I think the Paige's fit best in the crotch area. I also like the distressing on the Paige's. The fit of the Zara pants is off, and that's too bad about the Rag and Bone jeans - I would contact the seller about those and see what can be done.

Denise, I LOVE the KUTS!! I also LOVE the CE's!! If you're going for only one pair of white jeans - go for the cheaper one. I'm inclined to vote no distressing because it makes for a nice change.

I don't think the Rag & Bone jeans are the right cut on you, even with alteration. Far too long in the rise. Can you return them?

The fold on the Zara pants is caused by the cut. It's too straight on the thighs - the cut needs to be curved to provide more room. And the rise is too high. I hope that makes sense.

Of course, just to complicate matters, it's edgy and fashion forwrad to wear incorrect fit!!!! But we all have to draw the line somewhere.

I'm no help with these pants because I have jeans avoidance issues. Maybe that's why I own exactly two pairs of pants. They are SO hard to fit. At least you are jumping in and doing all this work to find the right ones. And for the record, there is nothing wrong with gravitating to the styles that fit you the best (at least I hope not)! <<<big hugs>>>

Denise, just chiming in to say that I would trade you in a HEARTBEAT for the problem of losing weight around the waist!
I do have an easier time getting pants to fit, but I would still trade you! So true that the grass is always greener.

I'm putting in a another vote for the Kut Catherines. They look incredible on you. The only other thing is that I like the way white jeans look without distressing. To me distressing doesn't look like it belongs there on white jeans as much as it does on faded blue denim.
But all of the jeans look good on you, so I don't think you'll go wrong whatever you choose.

As far as trouser fit, I wonder if just taking them in at the waist would help a lot with the crotch issues.

I do like the CEs on you. I get the appeal: they are a total boyfriend look, straight-looking wider legs, roomy looking fit, and distressed. The Catherines are in a different category of boyfriend jean, as implied in their description as a "slim boyfriend." They are more versatile, as Angie points out, without the distressing, and with the slimmer fit. But maybe you aren't looking for versatile in your white boyfriend jeans?
I can see how a distressed white jean would be more practical in California than here in Seattle.
Are you thinking of having the waist taken in on the Rag and Bones? You could look into that and see if it would get them to a point where you'd want to wear them. Otherwise, maybe you could resell them.
I think the tan khakis are adorable on you, but if they're too big in the waist and hips, you can find a better fit. Because it IS the clothes. I'm just kind of in awe that you can look this great in ill-fitting pants!

I like the Paige jeans about a hundred times better than any of the others. I think they fit you better (crotch-wise) than the others. My 2nd choice - but its a distant 2nd - is the C & E's. Keep in mind that my own bias about white jeans is definitely coming into play here - I can really only tolerate them on myself if they have some distressing on them - so hence, my vote for the Paige and/or C & Es!
I looked at your pics before I read your comments - and seriously, when I clicked onto your pic of you in the Paige jeans, I thought to myself "oh my god, she looks like a model! She's so beautful!" I mean, look at that pic Denise - the silky shiny hair softly blowing around your face - the gorgeous cheekbones and slender neck, the curvy body - whoa! You are a KNOCKOUT!

Are there any that you *feel* better in? I'm having trouble picking a fav because you look so good in all of them. I am not really on board with the size-up trend because I feel so unfab when I size up.
