Last try at slouchy pink pants (or, persisting, Shannon-style!)

I really like these slouchy pink pants, which I was nevertheless going to return. But after my success with the thrifted j. crew pants, I decided to see if the same shirt and untucked formula would work with these pants. Also, a few people suggested grey instead of black.

So here they are, sitting lower on my waist, with some ankle slouch, and the same half-tucked shirt. I'm thinking this "messy British schoolboy" formula is the way for me to wear slouchy pants. If it works, I can come up with variations!

Shoes aside (and undone hair and face!), does this look any better? I kind of like it, but I've been inspired by Shannon to not give up!

I like the fit! And I like the grey better than black.... I don't like the color, but I have a poison-eye for pink so that's just me.

I think the black ones you thrifted are better. These aren't bad, the color is really nice, just not screaming AK UNA to me.

This is definitely better and more your style. I prefer them lower on your waist which gives more ankle slouch. I know Angie really liked the slouch on the ankles of mine so I think that's a preference she has with respect to length. I also like them paired with a lighter top - not as much contrast with that gorgeous hot pink. As well, the half tuck works perfect - it gives you the messy school boy look.

I really think you're getting there with this look and I'm kinda falling for these hot pink beauties now. What footwear are you thinking of?

It is hard to know without the actual shoes you'll be wearing, Una. This type of pant is so dependent on shoes, it's not even funny.

Una - how 'bout with with your ink blue shrunken blazer and loose tank or for more streamlined look a breton striped blue & white top under the blazer. I really like the hot pink pants and am considering diving in and grabbing a pair I saw recently.

I also saw someone add a beigey/brown blazer w/ a black top over the pants, which toned them down nicely too. Not a UWP look, but definitely work appropriate and with this one you could add your black quilted booties too bookend your gorgeous dark hair.

Well. I think they can work, but I'll admit that I'm kind of stumped on the how. I'm also pulling a blank on what tops you own ATM. Thoughts that jump to mind...

- heels. I just think they will snap things into place
- what color is your sharkbite hem sweater? or wait, was it the one with the elbow cut outs? see what I mean about the blank? I could see a light gauge, muted colored, sweater with these.
- Rugged/manly belt?
- something slim but knit? To match the slouchiness of the pants?
- Sleeveless? Or maybe a vest over fitted sleeves?

I LOVE these pink pants on you. I think the shirt is a good match for the pants. All that's needed is some UWP kick-you-know-what shoes to make it *you*, if you know what I mean.

I like the fit of these, but honestly the pink is throwing me. I think you need to add darkness? toughness? OTT preppiness (so, like button that shirt up all the way but leave the rest as-is and toss on some heels)?

I think they just look too bunchy at the ankle with your house shoes. If they were shortened or worn with different shoes they might be closer to the vibe of the jcrew pants, which were slouchy perfection. Regarding the hot pink, I have a weird feeling that it is going to be very trendy soon. Of course this weird feeling might be based on me reading it somewhere, or maybe the fact I just thrifted a pink coat. I like the idea of toning down the pink with gray or some other neutral, and pumping up the boy's school and/or uwp factor.

Honestly I like the black ones better for the fit - I think it is the higher waist on them which make them work better to my eye.

These don't look bad with the grey top, but it seems like it needs to a more intense grey, or something else? I LOVED the other ones you found, these are OK, but definitely not as great as the others.

I love these on you, Una! The color is perfect for summer. I like the idea of a silky, loose top with these. I say keep, if your weather is anything like ours we are just starting spring. The warmer temps may inspire some more ideas.

I could see them with more grey layered in , maybe navy if you have that or colorblocked with another color on top. I like the pink - it is a vivid, radical color choice. Not a little girl pink but an in your face pink

How about trying a bright white top/shirt for contrast? Or a light pink vest with a darker coloured waistcoat or something over it (not black)? And definitely high shoes...

I think the fit is fab. As I said before, it's just a matter of how versatile that hot pink is for you. Are you digging the color? cuz I think you might be :)! Go for it then! It certainly looks gorgeous on you.

I like the fit but here's the thing...It sounds like there will be limited ways you want to style them so maybe they are not the EXACT pair you really need. *Ducking*

Jonesy (and others who like the pink), I DO kind of love the bold pink/ It's hard to be both a RATE UWP and an Indian girl at heart. It's interesting on the length issue too - the first time I posted, people suggested more slouch at the ankle, now they may be too slouchy.

When to give up? Sigh. Thanks for bearing with me!

Honestly, fashion should be fun right? So if you are pulling your hair out trying to make it work ... I think it's time to give it a pass. The pants look fun and fit well, but seem like would take a bit of effort to style effectively.

You seem to mostly go for RATE UWP. If you love the pink, you love the pink! Keeping people on their toes with a random BRIGHT PINK PANT could be pretty fun, yes?

Hey, we never specified *what kind* of princess! You're a fabulous Indian Princess. I think you can make these work, Una. While we definitely don't want to create more orphans for you, I keep thinking of my white boots - I almost returned them, but I'm SO glad I didn't. Since you love 'em, I'd stick with it a little more and try a smattering of outfits before you give up.

Isn't pink supposed to be the navy blue of India? And I remember Ines De La Fressange saying that she likes to show up in a hot pink shirt every once in a while (instead of her normal black or white) just for the shock value. Those pants would also be very fab paired with orange. Just sayin'.
