On a whim I decided to get eyelash extensions. The cost was pretty minimal (at least compared to what I suspect they cost elsewhere). I'm growing to like them. I also got my first facial in ages at the same time. I fell asleep in the chair needless to say.

What do you think? Worth it? Any feedback welcome. I'm not tied to them. Just decided to try them for the wedding we are in this weekend as something different.

Warning - no makeup photo taken in bright sunlight I am a brave woman for posting this, right?!

Ooh nice. They're pretty expensive up here & then there's the maintenance. I remember once a bunch of friends chipped in for a set for her honeymoon.

Wow! Thanks, all! I'm blushing. Or is it the thanksgiving wine haha. For $40 it was worth a try. They're really growing on me. Waking up and looking alive has its merits haha! Appreciate all the comments.

$40? Wow - that's a good price! I have had them a few times and the cost here is far higher. They are addictive, that's for sure, but ended up being too high-maintenance /time -consuming to keep up.

They look great! How long do they last? I've been using a Latisse substitute and it works well but not like that!

A full set lasts about 2 weeks before you start needing touchups. They start to fall out at that point - gradually though. So, once you start this , and if you are committed to keeping the look, it's every 2 or so weeks - just the way you have to maintain gel nails etc. The downside? Once you stop the upkeep and just let them fall out naturally..... It takes several weeks for your lashes to look decent again - what you're left with are very short and fine baby lashes that grew in while the other hairs had the extensions glued to them. I was pretty shocked when I saw what was there after I stopped . I had been warned about it by a friend , but figured " oh, that won't happen to me " etc...

The whole process is costly - just like everything else it seems

Thanks lisap for chiming in. This is my first set so I'm just experimenting.

I really DO love the way I can roll out of bed and LOOK alive (even though I feel otherwise). They do a lot to open up my face. I don't feel bad running around with no makeup on with these babies on.

My estetician (sp) told me every 3-4 weeks for touchups but I guess it depends on the materials and methods used. I've had maybe 4-5 fall out already - they are individual lashes and I tried to see where they came from but couldn't pinpoint it. I am quite rough on my nails and it doesn't surprise me I'd be less than gentle with these. Actually it happened last night bc they told me to use face cleansing cloths but I didn't have any and had to use a regular washcloth - guess I should follow instructions better.

I'm a little worried about the possible damage/regrowth situation once taking them off. I guess I'll see soon enough. I am debating taking them off vs doing the retouch. For me the retouch costs only about $20 so it's def not cost prohibitive, but time could be the killer. We'll see In the meantime I will enjoy batting my long lashes........wa ha ha !!

I love them! This is something I'd love to do but the maintenance puts me off right now. Enjoy them!!

Wow! I love your lashes. Maybe it's worth the upkeep?
Really good info on the upkeep--I had no idea about that.

If I had to pick though, I would rather upkeep lashes than nails, I think.

Saw this post and had to chime in even though I've been silent on the forum for so long. I got extensions done at a minimal cost in July (the girl doing them needed a Guinea Pig to practice on to complete her qualification) and I've kept them up ever since. I go for a fill once every three weeks. I keep thinking I should give my lashes a break but I love the effect so much that keep delaying getting them removed.

Hey Hil! Yours look great! I went for my first touch up and came out feeling wonderful again. I can't deny the feeling of looking like I am alive right after rolling out of the bed

Maybe techniques vary but my lady explained that some fall out as your lashes grow so when she does the retouch they naturally intersperse and there never really is a time when she had to remove all of them and start over. I went about 3 weeks between appointments. My touch up only cost $20 so I am thinking seriously to do what you did and leave them on and just make it part of my beauty routine maintenance. It also saves me time as I don't wear much if any eye makeup now, maybe a swipe of eyeshadow and that's it.
