...is the name being used by folks filming the Stephen King movie 'It 2' in the town where I live. They have been here for 2 weeks and will be filming through October. So, we have become the US town of Derry, Maine for the interim - and our shoe store is 'dressed' as a butcher and the dance supplies store has become an ice cream parlour. Our beautiful restored theatre has been made to look derelict, and a beauty/bath shop has been relocated so the set designers can make a second hand store. Mr. King is in town and is rumoured to be making a cameo as the proprietor of the second hand store. On our way to the library we ran into filming for a scene and stopped to watch James McAvoy walking counter to a crowd and through a cloud of balloons carried by a small boy.
All the locals, including the merchants, are saying the cast and crew are treating them real nice. The restaurants are seeing lots of business, Mr. King had his hair cut in a local salon, and rumour has it that a local make-up artist has been contracted to do the makeup for Pennywise (the creepy clown.)
-posted in the library
-new signage over what is normally our tourist information center
-historic theatre - usually much more tidy looking!
-one of several banners over the street - note the US flags on the buildings (usually the red and white Canadian maple leaf)
-sign on the door of my favourite shoe store (windows dressed to look like a creepy butcher's)
-vintage car in front of fictional second hand store
-decorations set up between 2 buildings. I'm not sure if it is for the film or to celebrate the Salmon run up the Ganaraska River - also in progress!
-a row of trucks full of equipment - one of many such along side streets and filling municipal parking lots
