Lapis Blue Velvet Loafers - YouLookFab Forum

I got a pair of Lapis Blue velvet Loafers (Franco Sarto) during the anniversary sale. I need some feedback from anybody who cares to comment.

I love the shoes, but they have to work is a requirement for me to keep. I need navy shoes, and have been for a year or two. I have navy denim sneaks for summer. That is all I have in navy. I wear black, blush, red instead of navy. I like oxfords, loafers, or flats, I think you get the picture. Shoes between sneaks and dressy. I hope some of you have seen the lapis blue or have them.

Specifically, can I wear the lapis blue with navy? I feel o.k. to wear them with some other colors, maybe other shades of blue, but just can't decide if they are a color to wear with all colors I would wear navy shoes with. Or should I return them and keep looking?

One other question. How do you feel about velvet shoes? Can I wear them just the same as patent? I would never wear the velvet in summer, but think they would be good fall, winter and spring.

Blue velvet loafers sound very fun!

As far as the color goes, in theory I think lapis and navy should work together. However, I would have to see it with the specific clothing you are considering. There is a range of lapis blue and navy shades and i imagine some would work better than others.

I've never had velvet shoes but I would think with some weatherproofing spray and TLC they would be versatile and pristine during fall and winter. Velvet seems more like a cool weather fabric so I'm not sure how it would read in the spring. Depends on the styling.

Are you able to post photos of the shoes styled with the outfits you have in mind?

Bridgie, I believe these are the beautiful FS loafers. They look like a dark lapis or navy to me, which would wear like a neutral. I say keep!

greycat6, thank you. I loved your reply right off. While I do try to dress tastefully and appropriately, I like to add a bit of fun to my wardrobe.

Yes, you are right, I probably would not wear them in spring but can see how I would use them for fall and winter.

Sorry, I do not post pics yet. I am working up to that. Hope to some time in not too distant future.

Murph11, Thank you for posting the pic for me. That is the exact shoe I have. I should have mentioned it is a very comfortable shoe too.

I have been comparing it to navy items I have and some are working to my eye. I don't have solid navy pants but have solid navy and navy printed tops and a dark blue fedora hat, and I have light and dark wash jeans to work with.

YES. Wear them with navy. Sam approves.

And you can wear them like patent for sure, if that makes things easier.

Robin, Thanks for your input. I was not sure what color lapis blue is until I ordered these shoes. It was a long shot for me because I had been unable to find navy shoes. I guess I couldn't believe I had found my shoes and just had to check with my advisers to confirm.

Bridgie, I love them. Velvet, blue and comfortable - they tick all the boxes for me! So glad that you are keeping them. I think they will be amazing with denim. I would not wear them in the height of summer, but I do think that for much of the year, they will be perfect. I have some pink suede loafers, that are far more versatile than I first imagined. They add a touch of luxe and fun to more basic run around t-shirt and jeans outfits.

Bijou, you have helped me seal the deal. I was so undecided when I posted. Then when all the replies were positive---well, how could I do otherwise? Oh, yes I will be wearing them with denim, I even have a pair of pink denim; black on occasion, (going to stop now, the more I list the more I think about to wear them with).

They definitely look like they are in the navy family to me. And especially since you are wearing them with navy items that aren't solid navy pants that are going to be right up against the shoe, they do not need to be a real match. They sound perfect for your needs!
