So uncomfortable! Seems like more expensive designer shoes run stiff and narrow. First the E&J boots, now these. Oh well, back they go.

I was at Nordie's the other day and was talking to an SA in the shoe dept. He said he is really upset with a lot of the quality in the higher-end stuff. He said that the shoes are well put together with nice stitching and attention to detail, and of course the designs are nice, but the quality of the materials is lacking. Sounds like what you're experiencing.

Oh, boo. I had the same problem with the Kenneth Cole Hudsons. Too narrow for my painful right foot. And so beautiful.

I think it's time for shoe manufacturers to recognize that there are more foot shapes than just "narrow all over" and "wide all over." Wide sizes don't work for me because it's only across the bunion that I need a little width. I have to rely on very soft leather, which is hard to find.

I agree with the shoes running stiff and narrow. I got some pretty Michael Kors booties but had to to return them because of the above.
We are better off keeping our feet happier and returning the shoes.

I hear you on the narrowness of expensive shoes! My feet are on the wide side, and I've always been able to fit in any shoe at Walmart, Target, Payless, etc. The Ferragamo shoes my MIL wears? Not so much! I've always said I have peasant feet. I am trying, however, to spend more time in shoes with some support and flexibility.

It's so frustrating to try a fabulous shoe and have it feel like walking in a stiff, tight box. Hope you find a great pair soon!

I find some brands deliver less and others more. In general I like Vera Wang Lavender for shoes that look cool and are comfortable. I've also had good luck with Lucchese, but you need to like the Western look.

That's a shame.

I was walking through the big shoe showroom at the Bay in Toronto (soon to be Saks, or Nordstrom...not sure which one is moving into that location.) Anyway, they have a gazillion shoes, including designer shoes. And I noticed that almost all of them had very stiff bottoms. I wasn't trying on so I could not vouch for comfort or lack of it, but I was curious about the design. Why the stiff bottoms? That's what my Zara knock off shoes have, and I kind of expect it. But on a really pricey shoe? A mystery.

Interesting. The Grey City Walker booties were VERY stiff and narrow in the toe. I don't have wide feet. By contrast, the Harajuku Lovers in my profile pic are pretty comfortable (it's a cheaper line by Gwen Stefani but several years old.) I wonder if it's a newer trend?

Such a bummer! (I have tried many L.A.M.B. shoes and boots - and not a one of them has worked for me - so I've just given up on that designer.)

Sounds like I'm not alone here. It wasn't just the sole - the entire shoe was so stiff I felt like my foot was encased in hard plastic. The E & J boots were just the same. I know some leathers, like with Frye boots, soften up and give, but these seemed like they would be breaking in my feet, rather than the other way around!

Sorry they didn't work. I feel like this about Kate Spade. Love the design of her shoes, but they are stiff, narrow and uncomfortable. My feet deserve better than that!
