Lady Day coat: Thinsulate or not?

Does anyone out there have the Lady Day coat from J. Crew? I need advice on which version to keep.

To start with, I ordered the Lady Day coat in dusty blossom both with and without Thinsulate -- this would be my first coat ever not in a neutral color. The first question for Lady Day coat owners out there is, for what temperatures do you think a regular double-cloth coat is good for v. one with Thinsulate. (For reference, I live in the Northeast, and I pull out the knee-length down coat when it gets below freezing.)

Also, I'm wondering from when to when it's OK to wear a pink winter coat -- will I want to wear it mostly in the late winter/early spring, which argues for keeping the lighter weight? Or should I be breaking out of my comfort zone and wearing this coat from the day that cold temperatures hit?

I should note that this coat is cut slim (and I'm slightly top-heavy, I'm beginning to think), so I can wear only relatively thin sweaters underneath it. Maybe that means it should be an in-between season coat for me. Or maybe it means I need it with Thinsulate, to make up for the fact that I can't wear warmer layers underneath.

Opinions please? My credit card is begging me to make the return soon!

Trix, I have coat in black with the Thinsulate lining and have loved it. Being in the northeast, you might want the extra warmth. As for color, I'd wear it throughout the winter.

And yes, it's cut super small in the chest. I had to go up two sizes and I still can only wear thin sweaters underneath. :O

I would keep the Thinsulate one. I think without Thinsulate, it's really a spring coat (not late winter/early spring), and I find I don't get much wear (at all) out of spring coats in the northeast. I think if it's cold enough to want a coat at all, you'll want the extra warmth.

Thanks Beth and Dashrashi! I was leaning that way, and hearing your thoughts definitely persuades me. I agree about the sizing -- I tried coats in three sizes (my regular jacket/coat size, and one and two sizes up), and even the coats in one size up are very fitted. I also agree about spring coats not getting much wear -- I think there's been all of one month with temperatures in the 40s-50s, and today it's supposed to hit 70F! This is the warmest winter I remember here, and I've lived through 10 winters here.
