Ladies, what are your thoughts on floral prints?

I was doing some late afternoon shopping yesterday and came upon a floral print skirt and at 6 bucks, I thought--why not. lol.

Photo's are up, please give me some advice on how I can wear it and is it even acceptable to wear it out in public?!

I like the print. You might want to try to de-bombshell it a bit if you intend to wear it to work.

That is an eye catching skirt! Love the colors, love the length! And you have the body to show of a pencil skirt like this.

I guess if you want to draw attention to the skirt you should combine it with a simple black top. If you want the skirt to be noticed, but not be a focuspoint..combine with any solid color that's in the skirt.
But it also seems a nice item to dress up or down...I think...sweater and flats, or tailored shirt and heels.

Good buy for little money!

Wendy45, thank you! I asked a friend and their reply was--"oh heck nooo". I really liked the print that's why I bought it and it fits me like a glove. I thought maybe to make it a little more casual I'd wear a fitted jean jacket over it? And instead of the pumps--I'd wear flats or wedges. What about the top I'm wearing in this picture--does it look okay with this skirt? There are traces of a light pink color in the skirt too.

Would love any more ideas you ladies have to give me! Thanks!

The colour of the top you are wearing in the picture seems to match nicely. It does make the outfit look very bombshell-like. But if that is what you are looking for, it is great. I like to combine pencilskirts with a denim jacket too..in fact I am wearing that same outfit right now! With heeled booties and tights. And a bit of a bohemian hairdo ;-), just to balance it out. I personally like to dress down a pencilskirt a bit. Flats or wedges will do the same.

The top you're wearing looks good with the skirt. I also like the suggestion of a denim jacket. A nice sweater would look good too. What a great find for $6!

Your friend may have been reacting to the traditional, realistic nature of the floral, which some people find overly... mature. With this kind of print, modern styling and adding a little edge becomes really important. Love the idea of booties, and the jean jacket as well.

But really, the formfitting nature of this skirt along with your stunning shape have already "youth-ened it up" as Tim Gunn says.

It is a lovely shape on you.

I think Wendy has some great ideas to make it more casual.

It is one of those pieces that you won't wear every week but you could have in the wardrobe for years. I have a couple of pieces like that - I love them, but they are not the most versatile items. Two-three times a season I will wear them and really enjoy them though!! I think it would be lovely for going out to lunch.

I think it's a lovely skirt and it helps accentuate your lovely shape - If you were worried that it's too va-va-voom, I can see it working nicely with a white tank and a loose chambray shirt (or jean jacket)

I think the skirt looks great on you. The pattern is fine! I think you have some great ideas for dressing it down, with the denim jacket and such. I'll have to remember those options when I need to de-bombshell something myself!

I think the top you have on in the pic looks good too.
