Lace-Up Sandals Update K/R

I was considering these sandals (find 1). I like the lace up element for customizing the fit for my slightly wide foot. I hesitated because they lack a back zip and I'm lazy

I went out this morning to find a maxi skirt for my 6 yo daughter for Easter (no luck) and stopped by DSW. Shoe selection in Canada is no where near as good as it is in the US. I've been to DSW once or twice before (we've had it for about a year), with no luck. Most of the offerings today were uninteresting but I did stumble on these (find 2).

Is Crown Vintage a cheaper Born line? They seemed comfortable for the few moments I had them on. I think the burnished metallic would be versatile (I wear a lot of cool colours).

What do you think? Anyone have any experience with this line or these particular sandals?

I have a pair of born gladiator sandals that are going on their 3rd summer and are still great! Not sure the difference regarding crown vintage though.

I'm no expert but DSW is the only place I have ever seen Crown Vintage brand so I assumed it was a house brand. I bought a pair of Crown Vintage ankle booties last fall and they were fine -- though I live in FL so booties get less wear here than in cooler climates.

I've only seen Crown Vintage at DSW too. I like the style of some of their boots and shoes (more than many others of comparable price DSW carries), but some are leather or suede and some are faux. For myself I prefer when the faux is priced lower than a comparable leather shoe since they tend not to last as long. I like the color of the silver shoes a lot.

That's good info. Thanks ladies. I have no idea why I thought these were Born! I also didn't know that DSW had a house brand. I'm OK with sandals not being top quality, especially something trendy. I guess I need to think if synthetic sandals are worth $50+ bucks.

I went hunting a little more because I was curious and the comments on this article (including the last by a DSW employee) suggest that Crown Vintage is a less expensive Jeffrey Campbell line or a maybe a direct knock-off (which explains why I often like the look of some them):

That is interesting Rabbit. I don't know much about Jeffrey Campbell shoes. Are they decent quality? These Crown Vintage sandals are definitely comfy, at least walking around the house.

I'm not sure, they are known for borrowing designs from higher end runway looks themselves. They are sold at Nordstrom, Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, etc. Also when they are made of different materials it's hard to generalize.

I just bought a pair of lace up sandals with no zip and i was worried about no zip too, but they were actually super easy to slip on/off...maybe just my long skinny foot but i wouldnt let that deter you from at least trying. I like both of those picks!

Marble, are you lucky enough to be able to wear your sandals now? Good to hear that no zip is not necessarily a deal breaker.

Rabbit, thanks. I don't own tons of shoes and live in a climate that bosses footwear choices. Not all pairs need to be high quality investments but I do know that as I get older I won't sacrifice comfort for a "look". I have 60 days to decide on these - won't take that long but it gives me a chance to see what else is out there. I've made too many bad footwear choices!

I like the look and in my experience (as someone who also wears a lot of cool colours) pewter toned sandals are a workhorse. I've had them two years running and adored them. (Different sandal but same idea). I also really love the low wedge; for myself that is more comfortable for all day wear than a completely flat shoe, but everyone is different of course.

Thanks Suz. I agree the pewter is really workable. I tried them on with a few things this afternoon - colour was good as was the height of the sandal to "fill the gap". I like the wedge too, feels virtually flat!
