Lace top - fab or frumpy?

I like that it isn't too long and I like the length of the sleeves. I prefer the blue, but they also have it in a pinkish beige and black. I don't have anything with lace, so I'm not sure what to look for, although I like that the fabric of this one has so much cotton in it.

Please help me? Yay for fab, Nay for too frumpy. Thanks!

Like most things, I think it's in how you style it. I'm guessing they thought it was
too frumpy since they went for the iconic Everything Goes With Jeans fallback.
They dressed it down as much as they could.

I prefer the blue, somehow it feels more modern. I agree, I think it is how you style it.

I think that it looks a bit frumpy with jeans, as least as it's styled in the photo above. I like the blue color, though, and I think that it could look fab. It's probably about how much work you're willing to put into making it look awesome.

It reminds me of a top & skirt I tried on in a shop. It was really nice but I did n't need it...
You can catch a glimse of it on these pictures. The lace effect is a little more subtle than yourexample. It is by No man's land, a Dutch brand but they also sell in Germany, Belgium, Ireland and Japan.

Lace like that can be tricky. The blush can look bridal or matronly and the black can look goth. I would stick to a color, it would probably be easier to defrump. I think the navy is nice with jeans.

I like the idea in principle but I don't like this particular top in practice. It just looks too stiff and boxy to me, and it is too short to tuck or belt to create some definition. I want it to be longer and drapier.

Fab, especially in the dark blue!! I love its shape, and I think it would look perfect on you with your A-line black skirts! I don't see anything frumpy in the least here--colored lace is very on-trend IMHO.

ETA: A colorful lace skirt in action in the pic below, and some current lace tops at Madewell.

hmm, on the right figure this one would be really cute, but this does appear a bit boxy to wear if you have curves.

Gosh, I really like it. I haven't read any of the other comments, but I would pair it with a slim bottom - like a pencil skirt. I know this is different from your usual silhouette. Give it a try! I like the blue.

I like that it's already lined. (Am I right?) There are so many lace and sheer things out right now that aren't and then you have to find the perfect cami or something to wear underneath.

I agree that the color makes it more modern looking.

Thanks to everybody for the responses. And so many differing opinions!

First of all, I haven't tried it on yet. I just wanted to know what you thought about this, because it would be something new for me personally and I was a bit unsure.

Like Jonesy said, I thought I would wear it with my black A-line skirts and maybe try it with a pencil skirt. I wouldn't wear it with jeans like on the model. It's true that it looks a bit boxy, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing, only something new for me. I would need to try it on anyway to see how it looks. I would definitely buy the top in the dark blue, neither the blush nor the black are my thing.

NK, you are right, I think it's lined. That's a good point.

I think I will give it a try and see how it looks on. Maybe I will get back to you with a keep or return...

I wish it was just a little longer...it appears square. But it really needs to be tried on to see how the proportions work on you. I am senstive to this because of my short-waistedness.

I think it's fab! Kate Middleton's blue lace dress was the first thing that came to mind when I saw it.

I really like the top and I could see it working really well with your style. But I have to admit that I'm a bit "worried" ("Bedenken" would be the German word) about the boxiness. So I'd love to see a Keep-or-Return-Post

I'm pretty shocked at all the negative opinions. I love the navy lace and, as for boxiness, you'll never know until you slip it on!
