LA Crew, Zap & Claire - "My" Bag at Brooks Brothers

LA peeps - do you remember the bag I fell in love with at Brooks Brothers? Claire's post about her love for Zap's bag reminded me of that one, so I went to the site to look at it ... and it was on sale! I ordered it.

I figure I can always return it if I decide I don't still love it or I start to hyperventilate about the price (still dear, even on sale.)

Claire - you totally enabled me, and I thank you!

Oh Tarzy, please don't hate me for saying this! I am also white bag lover. I would just worry about the perforations being hard to clean. I say this because my favorite white bag cleans just fine on the smooth leather parts -- it's the braided handles that my cobbler gives me the evil eye about. And for good reason. So difficult to clean!

That said, my braided handle bag has lasted at least 4 or 5 years now. I think I may eek out another year with it. I am definitely already on the hunt for replacement and have nixed anything with perforations on the assumption it would be too difficult to keep it clean.

Otherwise I love the bag... just raising that potential issue. Pardon if it's already been raised before!

I remember you touching that bag at Brooks Brothers! How could I forget. It was instant love and now that's it's on sale, the rest could be history. So happy for you and hope to see it IRL at our next gathering.

Zap - I ordered it ... and then sent it back. It is indeed gorgeous, but I realized that I'd be too worried about getting it dirty, and Shiny (Jennifer) made a good point about the perforations being hard to clean. I'm just not the careful type, and I know the worry would outweigh the joy.

Also, to be very, very picky - I felt that the perforations in the one I received were slightly askew, and that would have bothered me! I also wondered if it was too big for me? It was lovely and I really thought long and hard about it, but at the end of the day, back it went.

It did tell me I'm ready for a beautiful bag, though, so I'm keeping my eyes open!

Ahhh... Well, I think you made a good decision. Light bags are harder to keep pristine, that's for sure.
