Kut from the Kloth Catherine BF jeans - what do you think?

I know Una is laughing like crazy since these are now my 3rd pair of BF jeans - 2 different sizes of Gap Sexy BF and now these Catherine's!

I was curious about the Catherine's in comparison to the Gap pair and since they were on fairly deep discount, I pulled the trigger to try. I quite like the lighter colour for something different and I must say, I prefer the fit around the waist, hips, crotch, butt and thighs of the Catherine's. I find the legs a little slimmer than the Gap BF's and think that works a bit better for me. They are still BF style but not quite as baggy, which I don't always want.

What do you think? Are they keepers?

I also have a question about length. They are definitely too long - or could I wear them like this as long as I have heels on? Or should I have some length taken off?

Shannon, you are so adorable! And I love kitty's tail, too.

Okay...let's see. I like them! From here it looks as if they are closer cut in the crotch area (my apologies for that awful word) but still quite loose in the leg. They do look just as loose in the leg from the side, at least. Are they maybe a little less tapered than the Gap ones? It would be useful to put the pics up side to side.

Are you planning to wear them full length or cuffed?

These ones look a little more...neat? I am not sure that's the right word.

Suz - kitty was very interested in what I was doing until I gave him the box the jeans came in!

I've added below a pic of the Gap BFs for comparison. I'm wondering if one of the things I like about the Catherine's is the more consistent colour throughout?

I think I'd like the option of being able to wear them full length or cuffed. That would mean having about 2 inches cut off.

Would love to hear your thoughts now seeing both although I'm not sure the pictures show what I'm seeing.

I am laughing, only because my fourth pair of SBFs finally arrived! Remember I ordered regular a month ago, but needed petite, but since they were no longer on sale I had to wait for another sale? Got them in the lighter color...

But back to you! I prefer the wash of the Gap ones which seems more boyfriend-y and authentic, but I think the KKs give you a nice and different look, which is good. They are the clean slim non-grunge version of BF jeans, and I know you're not a slob like me - so I think these work perfectly!

Hmm. Seeing them both together, I'm preferring the Gaps.

But I'm not sure I can say why...or if it is the jeans themselves at all...I have a really soft spot for that taupe graphic T!!

It MIGHT be that the lighter wash is reminding me of my own 90s jeans......(which may not have been at all fashionable at the time). I just don't know.

I still LIKE the Catherine's and think they can work. I just REALLY like your Gap BFs.

Seering them side by side in the pics, I actually do prefer the Gaps as well. BUT - I do like the Catherine's and for the price they were, I can keep and wear.

Suz - it could also be the length of the Catherine's that makes them look less than stellar here so....what do I do about the length? Do I shorten so I can wear full length but also cuff, or do I shorten specifically to cuff?

I just posted a separate thread on the denim wash issue, but I also feel the KKs just aren't as saucy or sassy - they look like the BF version made for someone who really doesn't want to embrace the look (and I KNOW that's not you!). Sorry if that sounds harsh, honey - you know I'm saying it more nicely than it comes across in text!

I like these, but I LOVE the Gaps. I vote return too. Glad that you tried though. This is further affirmation for the relationship with the old BF - and you had a rocky start. It's best to go steady with him.

I am really glad you posted the two pictures together because it's awfully hard to notice subtle differences in isolation. And to me the Gap are just so much better, although it's still difficult to say exactly why. I do think this BF has stuck with you and he will serve you well.

I prefer your old BF as well! He has much more personality!

(also, in looking at these photos, I wonder if you might want to try a skinnier roll on the cuff. It looks a wee bit wide here especially in proportion to your height, although I'm not sure if you can narrow it without chopping some length.)

Glad you posted the two pairs together. I love the look of the Gap jeans and I'm afraid the other pair just don't cut it in comparison.

The Gaps have more dimension. The fading on the thigh has greater contrast, thus elongating the leg line. However, I still like the Catherine's. Some ideas:

These jeans are pretty light. Go for a less contrasting top also a softer color that plays better with the jeans --maybe grey? Also a less contrasting belt and lighter footwear.

Cut them shorter. It looks like you have them rolled a few inches, twice. When worn at full length, I am partial to a small fold. Twice, maximum three rolls so it doesn't get too bulky.

So I like these jeans, but they just have to be styled differently.

PS -- I was informed by my stylist niece to make smaller rolls last year, she said smaller rolls was newer. FWIW. However, that was a year ago so take that with a grain of salt.

I agree that the Gap ones look so much better. They are hard to beat! You wear them so well.

I prefer the Gaps because the light distress on the tops of the legs acts like highlighter on cheekbones. The Kuts are fine for low key days, and I agree on the smaller roll (so maybe lose a little length, but not too much you can't wear full length if you decide to keep. The thing I disliked about the catherines for me was the humongous stitching on the back pockets.

I like them well enough but I think the rolling and the styling are part of the problem with the comparison. LIghter jeans do seem a different styling. I actually like mine with farily dark colored tops. Funny, one of the things I love about the Catherines is the big stiching on the rear. But I know we all have different places to highlight. I have the BF shorts in that style and love them so much I bought 2 more pair (one in white) this summer. I practically lived in them.
