k/t leather and tweed jackets (photo heavy, also forum hog)

i've done a brutal closet cull. these jackets i got over the past year, no older than two. hoping you wise ladies will be able to help me choose which stay in the closet. i fear that many of the tweeds are too small.

1: new leather jacket in a dull teal blue--still returnable. thinking it is a duplicate for #2, a similarly colored moto that i wore endlessly over the last 12 months.

2: old leather moto. is #1 sufficiently different from #2 to warrant keeping?

3: navy tweed with gold studs. i think the studs around the neck at too much. are they easy to remove?

4: silver tweed. too small? not fashion forward?

5: grey brown tweed with tiny pompom and silver chain trim. this and #6 are the most reminiscent of chanel. too mumsy?

6: pink tweed with white piping. i love the buttons on this but i haven't worn. is it worth keeping? if so, i would wear more frequently.

7: white tweed. too small?

8: ivory/cream tweed with small puff sleeve. hubs fave of all. too boring?

do i need to size up in the jeans! (ag stilts, thanks angie!)

Well I think your jeans look great! I looked a the pics before reading the words, and was going to ask you what brand, so there's that.

I would return 1; it is similar to 2, and I like the cropped nature of 2.

I'd also purge 4,5,6 and 8 if you are going in a more fashion-forward direction. 1 or 5 could be edged up with the right jeans, jacket;, etc. if if feels bad to get rid of them.

7 looks good! does it feel to small?

I really like the new jacket in pic #1- good choice, and longer than all the others as a point of difference.
I can imagine the pink in 6 being tricky to style and would consider letting go, especially if you haven't worn it so far.
Would keep white in pic 7 over 8-mainly because you have similar jackets in 4,5 and 6.
The fits all look good to me, and the jeans look good- they will give a little as you wear. Your 'fat day' looks pretty slim to me!!

Those jeans are perfection so I don't know what you mean by fat day, unless they are supposed to be BF jeans.

Love the tweeds keep them all. Don't worry about the fit unless you want to button them. They don't look too small. Not boring or mumsy. If you remove the studs on the navy one there will probably be holes. I do't know if they would show in that fabric though so if it is the only way you would keep it you could try. I like it with the studs. On trend I think.

The leather jackets differ in length which matters when trying to get proportions right with different outfits. I don't know what you plan to wear them with but that is something to consider. The 1st one is less RATE, not being a moto. If you have the closet space & budget keep both.

Good point about the lengths. I find myself getting toppers in the same color but different lengths because i need them for different things. My top fav is #5. It's traditional but looks modern paired with white jeans--I would keep that styling! My second fav is #7, so sleek and modern. From the front it looks possibly too small but it looks fantastic from the side and back, so I'm wondering if that was just the picture.

For a navy topper I think you can do better than #3. I'm not sure I like how it's longer in front. And I think the rest don't complement your figure as well as they should. Just my opinion, let's see what the rest think!

I think 1 and 2 are fairly similar but prefer the shorter length of the moto. I'm not really a tweed person but I have to say that I love the pink one. The fit is perfect and the color is awesome for spring. The shorter tweeds look like they would pair well with skirts. Not sure about 5 and 6. I know exactly what you mean about the Chanel vibe of 5. I think styled with white jeans it looks very nice. Personally, I think it looks kind of mature but only because I don't have youth on my side to make it look cheeky. I think you have the kind of fashion forward pieces to make it work--as I recall, you have an awesome closet Just my 2cents from suburbia. Those jeans are fab on you! LOVE!

Of 1 and 2, I like 1 as I think it's more fashion forward and the moto style while timeless is just looking tired to my eye at the moment.

3 looks good however I'm not a fan of that style collar on a jacket.

You can send me #4 :). Love it. I think this is current and the fit looks good.

I love #5 but I do think it's a bit too classic for you. Your style is more modern and fashion forward.

I feel the same way about #6 as I do #5. And you haven't worn it?

#6.. I die! It's gorgeous and I adore that neckline. The fit looks good. Is it the length that bothers you?

Again, I think it's a gorgeous jacket but feel the same about this as I do 5 and 6. Too classic.

Having said that, perhaps styling the more classic jackets in a more fashion forward way would help them keep there place in your wardrobe:)

Dang. I've been scrutinizing these photos trying to find anything off about these jackets. The navy with gold is my least favorite, but it's still good. So I am completely unhelpful - sorry! I like them all!

I would keep # 1 and #2. If your wear pink often, then I keep 6. The others I do not care for the fit.

I like 1, 2 and 8. 7 looks too small. The style AND pink of 6 is not thrilling me and could easily be twee.

It would be very hard for me to bid goodbye to #1. I feel it is different from 2. Sleeker and more modern, and the proportions are also different. Is there room for both? It's a lovely jacket.

Of the others, I think 3 is definitely donate -- the studs are tough to remove.

I really like #4, personally, and although it may not be fashion forward, I don't see it as dated, either. Does it FEEL too small? Doesn't look too small to me, unless you need to do up. Looks good on the shoulders. I guess the one question is how it feels in the armholes. I feel the same about #7.

#5/6 I am not as crazy about these ones, but it all depends on the styling and whether you enjoy. If they don't feel "you" then I'd let them go.

#8 seems least "you" in a way -- so it is interesting that hubby likes it best! Is it one you loved for a while and now feel done with?

My favorites are #1,#4 and #7 but you mentioned the last two as too small? Do they feel too small? They look good to me!

I didn't read the other posts so as ot to bias my thoughts. If I am way off base, chalk it up to me learning too!

I like 1,2,3 and 7. I think the length in 1 is different enough, but if you don't feel that way you won't where it that way KWIM? I had to wrap dresses with chain prints. The forum felt they were different enough, but I knew in my heart one wouldn't get worn, so I picked my favorite and returned the others.

I think the studs on. 3 are fine for now. If you don't like them, I would donate as I think removing them will leave holes.

I have a poison eye for "Chanel" jackets, so take that for what it's worth.

there seems to be support for keeping the new leather jacket even if it is the same color.

as i suspected 5/6 and likely 8 are not a crowd fave.

good to know that the jackets don't "look" small. 4/7 feel a tiny touch snug. i'm at the upper limit of my weight band and am working on toning. if the weight training give me popeye arms, i will have to let them go.

need to sleep on all the comments. there may be jackets in the style exchange!

Love the cropped moto in #2 - great jacket.
#1 - I really like the drape on this jacket and think it's different enough from #2 to keep.
#3, #4 and #5 - I'm not crazy about these. I wouldn't come out and say they are dated, but they're just kind of "meh", you know?
#6 - love this jacket and think the fit looks good. I think the pink colour can work well in this spring of pastels.
#7 - nice white jacket and fit looks good from the back, but does look slightly small in the front. Is it uncomfortable?
#8 - on the fence on this one.

Jeans look great BTW.

i had a dream about a diy for the navy with gold studs. i think i'm going to remove the collar and sleeves and make it high low.

the last one is going to get donated. still debating about the more classic ones.

I like #1, and seeing as #2 is old and a different style (moto), I would consider keeping #1. #4 and #7 look a little small to me. I don't mind buttoned blazers that are too snug to close, as I usually don't button, but I do mind zippers that are too tight when zipped, as I will zip when it's cold.

Don't take the studs off the navy jacket - you'll be left with holes or marks in the fabric.

I think the other jackets look a little dated, but I do like the jacket in #5.

If you are looking for a slim fit jean, these are good. Did you try on the bigger size? I'd like to see pics for comparison.

I like the shape of #3 best by far! Very flattering despite the studs. I like the shape of #5 next best. You look best in a slightly longer jacket with this style of jeans to my eye.

#1 is a little long.

#2 is very nice open.

#4 is too small and short for jeans.

#7 has potential but you need a size up.

Return #6 and #8. Ill fitting and sorry hubs

thanks, angie...i didn't intend for all the jackets to be worn with skinnies. i put them on with the same pants so the focus woud be on the differences between the jackets. trust the professional not to have tunnel vision.

on a related note, if i wore a longer top and the shorter jackets with skinnies, could that work?

The cut and fit is quite dependent on how you want to wear the jackets, bj. So now you know which I like best with the skinnies!

#2 is fab with baggier trousers, skirts and dresses.

#7 depends on the size up.
