I did end up going, and I am very glad I did. It was a blast, and even more so because all the women in my department went together, and we all dressed to the nines. Everyone looked amazing!
I ended up with the lower Naturalizer shoes (I stopped at Von Maur and picked up a new pair a half-size bigger), the gold-and-black hardcase bag, and a surprise last-minute switch in accessories. I also stopped at a consignment store after getting my nails done, where I found a gorgeous burnished gold, black stone and faux diamond cuff for $15. It was just too pretty to resist. So I found a similar fabrication drop earrings, and went with those in lieu of a necklace at all. In the end, I guess I went back to Angie et al' original suggestions, and it worked!
Now I have been home all afternoon, resting and coughing and gearing up for a busy week. The pneumonia is getting better but I am still coddling myself as much as I can until it's truly gone. Also, it's my birthday today so I am being extra-indulgent.
I just posted a bunch of photos of my co-workers on FB and now I am working on a LFD post. But I forgot to get any good photos of me with anyone. Whoops! My friend did take one photo of me before we left the hotel room. It will have to suffice for now until I see other people's photos tomorrow at work.
