K/R/Ex...EF linen top? - YouLookFab Forum

I lost the thread, but someone recently asked about this top. Mine was already on order so I was waiting. It came today and I mostly really like it. But...I see what that poster meant about giving a wide hip line. It has a slight A-line shape and might accent that area. I'm an IT-Apple so that isn't the worst place to accent for me.

Pros:

As Angie said, wow the color!! Online it looks like a regular hot pink, and that would be great anyway, but IRL it has more purple. It just happens to fall in that pink/purple "radiant orchid" that is my favorite color in the whole world!
Medium weight linen knit, decent for summer.
My favorite hemline style, asymmetrical.

So...does it look too wide? Or too big? Or JFE? This is a S, so I could exchange for an XS if it looks too big....but wow, I sure don't consider myself an XS anything.

Opinions please!

Wow, the color! Gorgeous. I think it was Sterling who tried it. I see nothing hip- widening about it. You could probably go to an XS, but consider where it would hit you. I think your hips are enviably slim, so you may have no worries either way. Jealous!

Peri, are you sure you are an IT? Your shoulders look wide and square but not broad, if you know what I mean. Not that it matters in this situation.

OMG. The colour took my breath away. And guess what? One has made the first leg of the journey to me.

I think the fit looks great, from what you have posted.... I bet you'd also be able to wear a size down as well, but I don't think you need to. If I had free shipping free returns I think I'd try it, just for peace of mind.

Oh, now I'm even more excited! I have the blue coming as well.

I can imagine that it wouldn't suit all figure types and sensitivities but I think it looks great on you. The color is beautiful and suits you so well! Even though the hem is wide and the angle makes it eye catching it hits you where you actually look relatively narrow. I don't think it's the wrong size either, looks just right to me.

I'm tempted to order XS just to know for sure, as Elizabeth suggests. I do think I tend to take advantage of that free shipping...they may rescind my privileges at some point!

Suz...I measured for you and it is 32 inches from shoulder to the longest point, 25 inches from shoulder to the shortest. I am 5'5", but kind of long torso, definitely long arms. Petite rarely works for me. As far as IT...I do think so! My shoulders are 41.5 inches around...my hips are 37! Doesn't that sound IT?

Thanks so much for measuring, Peri. I'm a bit shorter than you and short waisted but regular torso overall (due to longer rise). Hmm. It's a tough call. Maybe xs would be a better bet than petite. Or maybe Petite small.

Technically for sure those measurements make you an IT. Just a really slender one without a larger frame, I guess. Believe it or not, my shoulders are 39 and my hips are 35 (or at the moment, closer to 36). But I'm still classed as hourglass/ rectangle with a strong shoulder line. ETA by Angie, that is.

You can order the xs too and see which one you like better. Is this your first EF piece?

Suz, I am 5'3" and do best most of the time in EF with an XS. I think a PP would be smaller than you want, but a small P could work.
Peri, I love the color and fit on you. I think that it is supposed to fit like this. It does not give you a wide hip line, especially as the hem is not straight across. YLF

Daria, I think EF mostly runs loose, but meant to fit that way. My EF things are S and I am usually between S and M in other brands.

Mary, no I have several...all S. I have a white tank on its way to me that was only left in M, so I may be posting about that soon.

Love the top and color on you, you must keep it!! My favorite color too.

Currently I'm ordering 2-3 sizes in Eileen Fisher, partly because petite sizing is a crapshoot and never in the B&M stores, but also because I've found the regular XS runs quite small in the bust in some spring tops.

I think it looks gorgeous on you. You could probably wear the smaller size, but this doesn't look too big.

Suz -- Considering that I can wear a S in EF tops, yeah, you could probably easily wear a XS. But I'm one of those women who this cut does not flatter -- my shoulders are not small but neither are my hips.

It's gorgeous, Peri! I think the size looks good, but in the store I'd try both sizes just to be sure. So it doesn't hurt to order the XS--if you can wait to wear it!

It did not work on me because I am more pear and with that it looks too strongly A-line. On your shape the line of drape is much better and shoulder line is stronger.

Suz, I have this in PS and it fits like Peri's - I think you would be PP. On me the small was too long, I looked like I was three feet tall.
