K/R/A Fair Isle and Crazy Pants

So I could not resist these Halogen printed ankle "crazy pants" when they went super sale at $24

I love the color and pattern and planned to wear with solids until I ordered this Fair Isle from LandsEnd Canvas.
It's probably too much together so I'm asking about K/R on the sweater and if I need to shorten the pants and if so how much? They are supposed to be ankle, but they are actually just over my ankle.
Not the best photo I know, but it's hectic at night.
Thanks for any advice.

Love the pants but I'm unsure of the length they should be. On the model they are definitely shorter as they show the actual ankle bone and before I clicked on the link that was my gut feeling that they should show that bone. Therefore maybe around an inch off? They are nicely tapered on you.
As for the sweater, I love the colours on you and the fit is great. I would say keep.

I like both of these for you! The pants do taper really nicely. I think they would look more intentional a bit shorter but they look ok like this too to me.

I like both pieces together. I also think the pants look fine at the length they are (cute pants, btw!). I have seen ankle pants at all different lengths, from right above the ankle bone to several inches above. My favorite ankle pants are tapered at the hem and hit about 2 inches above my ankle bone. For this pair, I would copy the model and hem them slightly above the ankle, maybe 1/2 inch or so.

First of all, the pants look great on you. They're tapered enough that the length doesn't look awkward to me. Angie may like them shorter, but I think I'd keep them at that length.

I'm not usually a big fan of pattern mixing, but that sweater is so much fun with the pants! The Fair Isle style and the colors are great for you. Keep!

I love this on you! Yes, it might be a little "advanced pattern mixing" for work, but I can think of a lot of places where this might be a perfect look for you. The pants under a blazer would be great for work!

You have such a refined eye for making "preppy" absolutely fab and interesting.

As for length: I think the just a touch shorter, to show the ankle bone, but I miht be too lazy to do it, if they were mine and they looked this great.

I love crazy pants, and those ones look great on you! The length looks good to me as is, though you may prefer a touch shorter depending on the shoe. My solution w/my BR sloans is a bit of a cheat - if I want a more cropped look I tuck the hem up underneath.

Wow! I love the pants and love them with the sweater. You look great!

As for length, I do the same as Emily and just tuck the hem up if the fabric is thick enough to stay and that way the look can change with shoe choice.

i had to look at anything that said Fair Isle and Crazy Pants. love them both! i've been pineing for a fair isle sweater --i wish i had kept a few from high school. i was looking at that one from lands end or one of the ones from vineyard vine.

Thanks everyone. I get free alterations from Nordstrom (since they were purchased there) so I might take them up a little bit. I will experiment with shoes first and if I can do the faux undertuck trick (thanks Emily and carambola). I wish I could find the right navy shoes/boots to know for sure. It's been a tough find for me this year even though they are more plentiful than last.

Rita I never intended these to work together and when I first tried them on (both were in the items to try on and photo for K/R pile and I just happened to think why not try it?) I was only doing it for fun. I think this is a classic example of buying within a certain palette (mine is navy, camel, white and red) helps your wardrobe mix and match more easily. But now I actually like them together and might venture out this way but not for work. I might risk the pants with a navy blazer and white shirt for work.I think the crazy pants actually balance the brightness of the fair isle print.
kkards - I have been drooling over vineyard vines too.

Late to the game, but I also like how the two pieces work together! You have a great point about your palette for mixing and matching.
