K/R Zara Booties and Mutant Feet

I really like these Zara booties from Angie's post
Ensemble: Winter Whiteout but I fear they make my feet look like those of some giant mutant creature. I get that it is the nature of pointy toed booties to make one's feet look bigger, but I don't want to scare small children when walking down the street! They come in a size 8 and a size 9 (not 8 1/2), and the 8 was waaaay too small, the 9 fits perfectly but perhaps slightly long in the toe - I'll never know since there's no 8 1/2. They're very comfy.

So give it to me straight and don't spare my feelings - did you look at the pics and exclaim, "Oh my! What huge feet she has!" or "She sure has some goofy expressions on her face, but I see no problem with the shoes."

I think the high contrast is throwing you off more than anything. But, having issues with my own pointy toe boots, I get it! I think they look fine, by the way

You are too funny! I have large feet for my height and am very very sensitive about this, so take it with a grain of salt that I do kind of find them to make the foot look unusually long. Perhaps if you try them with some light colored or white bottoms?

The boots were the first thing that I noticed. Maybe worn with lighter bottoms, but they seem so prominent with the denim. Do you like them?

I see what you see, though the high contrast between your jeans and the white shoes likely amplify the effect.

Like Mo said, I think it's the high contrast that's making you self-conscious. Any white footwear is going to stand out more than dark or neutral footwear. FWIW, I wear an 8 1/2 shoe (and I'm only 5' 5"), so I hear you on the "big foot" thing.

I really think these are fashionable and striking on you. If you can get used to the high contrast I say keep them and enjoy.

I think the high contrast plus looking down on them is throwin you off. I wear a 10 in Zara shoes, and I am shorter than you

Hummm....I could wear them with my white jeans, but I only have the one pair, and I don't really want shoes that I can only wear with one pair of pants. Perhaps I should continue the search for a pair of white booties that have a bit of a heel and a slightly rounded toe, that would offset the elongating effect.

Those look very cute on you! I think your eyes have to adjust. The high contrast, NARROW bottomed pants create an optical illusions. Why don't you try them with slightly wider bottomed pants to break your eyes in?

Nothing frightening about you, Karie. I find that high contrast footwear takes a bit of getting used to and some just feel too conspicuous to me because of a variety of factors. I say wear them around the house and see if you adjust your perspective. If not, return. They do look cool- but may have features that contribute to making them too prominent for you. Kudos for trying new stuff.

I think they are awesome, and if you want to talk about mutant feet, go put on Frankenboot again.

I do think the pointy toe can take some getting used to from above.

I don't actually mind the bookending here (high contrast with pants) because you have the legs to wear whatever trousers you like.

I still don't know what I will do...I'll have to take a peek inside my closet and see what I could wear these with.

I find them distracting, to be honest. I think it's going to be difficult to style them in a way that doesn't make them the center of attention. I think that the combination of the long toe and the lack of much heel is what makes them seem "mutant." If it were me, I would continue the search.

I tried them too, Karie, and they went back. I just couldn't take all white on my feet, and my feet are decidedly average sized (size 8 on a 5'7" frame). For me, I realized they were too high contrast with my preferred dark bottoms, and I just felt a little too conspicuous. I think that my dark hair plays a part in this too, since I gravitate to darker footwear for bookending. I think I'm better off with footwear that incorporates some white (ie, my new Ash wedge sneakers) without being ALL white.

I do agree that the dark, narrow-legged jeans in your photos are emphasizing the white boots a lot, so I wonder if you might just want to try some other stylings before deciding.

I like them. For me it would be the high contrast. I love the high contrast on others but I have a hard time adjusting to it on myself. Maybe that's the problem because we are looking down at them.

To be completely honest, they look OK but not great. I have the same problem with pointy toed boots and shoes. I wear an 8 1/2 which, on my feet, looks big enough without the extra length required for pointy toes.

However, if you love them, keep them. Remember that they look longer when seen from the top looking down than when seen by someone who is not wearing them.

They look good on you. It may be the color difference between your pants and the boots. Try lighter pants and see if you like them better.

I have this same issue when trying on high contrast shoes.

Honestly, when I find that I'm trying to talk myself into buying/keeping an item, then it's not PPP.

I have similar booties in white and I have very small feet I also thought my feet looked huge when I first got the booties. I think it was a combination of the high contrast of the white (I mostly wear mine with black skinnies) and the point which I was still getting used to. I absolutely love mine, and I love these on you. Keep. Your feet look more than fine to me.

I think they are pretty, but I can also see that they draw the eye to them. Often, that is what one desires in footwear - to make a statement. I vote keep if you like the bold statement!

I actually like that the eye is drawn to them (they're so dang adorable!) but I want them to stand out in a good way - I don't want people asking, "Can you waterski with those things?" or "When is the boat setting sail?" And while I don't want to keep them for the life I don't live in dress pants, my sewing machine and I are currently building my pants wardrobe (for real, not in my fantasy life).

AJ, I know it doesn't sound that way here, but in my mind I think I'm trying to talk myself out of them, not into them. I mean after all, how many cute shoes does one actually need? (Wait...I'm still counting...nope, can't count that high!)

And Deborah, I really resonate with what you said. The two most recent purchases that I was in a quandary about - the J.Crew Matchsticks and the Marc Andrew print feather jacket - I kept and they are real wardrobe workhorses, I absolutely love them.

I love them - and have these booties too. So perhaps a little biased. I wear them "high-contrast" all the time, and well as with white jeans.

You are tall, so really, I see no problem with proportions.
