I'm interested in your thoughts on the staying power of the wedge leather sneaker.

Two years ago I bought the metallic olive/rust pair (and paid way more than I should have: they are some Euro brand, and are the most comfortable shoes ever, and I really liked the way they look so I pulled the trigger). I wear them a few times a year - mostly in fall and spring - with jeans or olive/khaki skinnies. I get a ton of compliments on them and feel super great wearing them, but they don't exactly work with a lot.

I have been eyeing the Ash Black leather wedges below for a year, but they are were included in sales or promotions at The Bay and were a little on the pricey side ($200) to just snap up for fun. Well, I pulled the trigger and brought them home yesterday to play with. It's a lot of money for a fun shoe, and although I really like them and they work with my "look" , I'm not getting a feel for the staying power of this shoe. I'd hate to pay this much and end up on the dying trail of this look.

Everytime I figure the trend has died (or gone "ratchet"- to quote DD) I see yet more styles in higher-end brand offerings. What are your thoughts?
