K/R which jacket?

After a lengthy post about wardrobe culling, culminating in my jacket dilemma, I decided the simplest method would be to ask which jacket you find more flattering. The photos leave much to be desired, but at least they're bright for a change.

ETA: The reason I'm asking is because in real life, although I like the front of #1 better, I find the style of the #2 more flattering and balancing. The sleeves of #1 hit me closer to my hip than my natural waist, which isn't apparent from the photograph.

I didn't read your other posts but I'll give you my two cents. I like the front on the first one the best and the back of the second one. No help I know. But it looks like the first one may not fit you quite right in the shoulders. Is it pulling funny under your arms or is that just the picture?

AviaMariah, it's the photo, if I square my shoulders slightly (i.e. don't slouch), it disappears. I was between 2 sizes, and went with the larger size, so there is room in the waist and a bit in the shoulder.

I like the first one--it makes you a perfect hourglass and seems to fit well. The second one reminds me of a 90s jacket for some reason.

I prefer the first one. I like where the button hits and the the second one fits a little loose to me.

I like both with a slight preference for the practicality of the full sleeve. You can't go wrong with either though!

I like the second one better but they're both good! Even if they're both black, I would keep both. Can't have too much black!

I LOVE the first one - looks like a Smythe? - although the cut on the back of the second is so cool.

Door #1, for sure, but I would like to see photos that are full length as well and would also like to see the jacket open if you will wear it that way.

I am a bit worried about the shoulder fit in that one but it's a great jacket.

I think #1 looks better from the front, but a 3/4 sleeve jacket would drive me crazy... #2 from the back is pretty rad!

I like #1 overall. I do like the back of #2, but most people will see you from the front. It that the Smythe from last year's NAS?

Truthfully it is hard to say without seeing them styled as you would wear them, and they are both excellent. Do you really need to cull one?

I would keep both! Do you wear them both? Both are stunning and such beautiful styles. Im no help I know.

Hmm, too bad you can't do some major hocus pocus and take the front of the first and sew it to the back and sleeves of the second! Although, I am a major sleeve hiker, so I typically end up pushing all my sleeves to that level even when they are full length. It seems to be the most flattering length for my proportions.

If you're only keeping one, I would keep the first, and start looking for an excellent replacement. I'm not sure if that was part of your plan, but both jackets are beautiful so there is no rush, and really, there is nothing truly wrong with either. We are a picky crowd and we're here to nit pick the fine details.

Jackets can be tough and I've slredy lamented how I never have " one blazer to rule them all." I think you have to style them with the target bottoms-- pants and/ or skirt and even then tops may work with one or another.
Both have wide pesky lapels which mag not be as modern bug may come back in! Also who can update that constantly at good quality?
I admit I don't get the high button placement and pocket detail in #2 except as " fashion". I am not a fan of blazers that seem to only half close at the top so that blouse, belt and pants are showing. This seems to be a girl- blazer thing.

I like number 1 best. As for 3/4 sleeves, I really like wearing jackets with shorter sleeves because when at work, my hands are freer and I don't have to push up my sleeves.

oh, here's my take…if you already own them both, i'd keep them both, as they both fit well and are different enough to deserve a place in your closet. if you already own one or the other, i'd keep the own you own. if you don't own either and are trying to decide between them, i'd go for #2 because i think the full length sleeves are more versatile, you can always push the sleeves up, but you cannot make 3/4 sleeves long…

Thanks for all the feedback! I admit, I was surprised by the responses!

I don't need to cull a jacket, but the problem I had with #1 was that it's made from a heavy wool, and is more like an outdoor door jacket than an indoor blazer. Because of this, I've found that I haven't worn it as often as I thought I would, although maybe I should take that as a challenge.The second jacket is a lighter wool and would be suitable for indoors in all seasons.

I hear the fabric weight and sleeve thing.
i find bracelet and 3/4 sleeves flattering, and also I don't like long long sleeved jackets, and find alterations may muck things up, so it can be hard for me to find the perfect long-sleeved blazer, yet I need one or 2 for certain types of outfits. However, the 3/4 sleeve thing is not good for me for chilly weather, so I've resolved to limit it to linen or cotton, or maybe tropical wool, but still targeted for a summery jacket. So heavy fabric + shorter sleeves is seasonally confused for me. That's also in part because you can't layer it over a long-sleeved blouse or thin knit, so it becomes doubly confused.

I love #1, but, like Suz, I think seeing a full length shot gives a lot more information on the silhouette. How (and where) will you wear this jacket?
