K/R: Vince Camuto studded booties...

OMG, I feel like a pest. This is what happens when you shop and return faster than the speed of light. About ten thousand things have come and gone, and now these finally arrived. They are VERY comfortable and there is about as little gap as I ever have in the ankle.

My main concern is the heel height. Does a bootie have to have height to be edgy? Am I restricting myself style-wise with a 1.5" heel (not 2" as stated: descriptions LIE! So annoying!).... Ironically, I feel like they may be too delicate for me, despite studs and buckles - maybe because my feet are so small they look like hooves.

Sorry I'm in running gear. You can certainly see that I'm an IT in this picture...

Anna, I know you're struggling with footwear issues - do you feel like you have fewer styling options with lower heels? I only do chunky heels but I do like the volume they give me on my feet, to balance out the shoulders.

These are pretty darn awesome with the studs, though, I gotta say.

I think they're REALLY neat. And no, you don't look like those are hooves. But I do hear you on the heel issue. I might feel as if I wanted more heel especially for dresses....but that is me and my short legs issue, not your problem.

I like them. Does the heel height directly relate to whether or not they are edgy... I don't think so. They don't look delicate to me, however they are kind of more 'refined' but given you are petite, I like the look on you. How are you planning on wearing them?

I like them, and found your feet as hooves comment hysterical. Your feet do not look like hooves. I prefer lower heels, so I am no help with that - these seem perfect to me. An UWP needs as many black ankle boots as she can fit in her closet.

I do think they fit your style. If I tried to wear those, I would cause myself injury. I am always banging my heels into my legs.

These look right up your alley to me! Keep is my vote. And I think my low heeled blue ankle boots are edgy without having a heel. The hardware does the trick. Same with these.

I love them - finally no pesky gap issue! I don't see any issue with shoulders or heel height.

My only question... did you not just recently get a different pair of black booties? The ones that ended up being summer boots instead of continuing the nude boot search? Wondering if these will serve a significantly different role in the closet. If I missed a return somewhere, then please disregard.

I like them, I think they're really cool. They look plenty edgy and they are more likely to be comfy so you will wear them at this heel height. They don't look hoof-like to me, but FWIW I think that higher heeled shoes on small feet are MORE apt to look hooflike since the angle is higher (just think about the Jeffrey Campbell Litas...)

I agree with Dianna, heeled shoes make feet look smaller, not flats. And these are perfectly edgy, cool, seem comfy and deserve to be welcomed into your closet. yeah studs

Rae, I got the Frye Phillip harness boots in the distressed finish. Those are super-RATE. I'm looking for an edgy bootie with a bit more polish to wear with dresses. I'm not sure studs are quite it though - would I wear these to the Estate Planning section meeting tomorrow?

I love these, Una, and think they look great on you. I'd keep them. For the record, I don't think edginess has a thing to do with heel height. I've been finding it difficult to locate boots with a 2-inch or less heel height, so it was a pleasure to see these.

I love these on you and I hope you keep them! I think this style really works - keeping the studs at the heel but accenting the foot part with the leather straps makes them look casual enough for jeans but dressy enough for skirts. They are very flattering on your feet, whatever you see in the mirror to the contrary does not show in the photo. Maybe you just have to get used to the lower heel - it certainly doesn't read as less edgy.

I agree that lower heels make for longer feet, not smaller feet. The only way heeled shoes add bulk is if the heels very chunky or the shoes are also plaform.

I think the studs are plenty edgy - if you're wanting to wear them with dresses or for work. I'd love to see you wear them to the Estate plannign section. I know I not nearly as fierce in taste, but sometimes too 'much' and they could start into costumey territory. . . These are awesome

OMG. I am spitting out my coffee at the thought of you wearing these to the estate planning meeting. You will look like a little devil sent to put those clients well and truly in the ground!

Una, I'm a few inches taller than you (at 5' 4") but my legs are probably shorter than yours - no joke. In particular, my calves are short, so I'm really sensitive about leg lengthening issues. That is why I keep hoping someday to find pumps that will work for me; they aren't necessarily my STYLE preference but in terms of figure flattery they are by far the best possibility for me. Unfortunately, they don't generally stay on my feet (and nor do other low vamp shoes) so this creates a dilemma for me.

I think those are great, and with the embellishments and shape, they balance out your IT shape very well.

For the record, I also think it looks good when you play up the IT shape - like with the argyle sweater.

I don't find the lower heel height a problem at all - and this is coming from a fellow shortie! and your feet definitely do NOT look like hooves (lol)!

I really like these for you - the fit looks fantastic, just the right amount of gap at the top and there's visual interest to the boots with the studs as well as the criss-cross at the front. They also look very comfortable.

As for whether or not they would work with a dress, any chance we could see them with one in a picture? Although you look adorable in your running gear, it is hard to picture the booties with a dress.

So far, I'm saying keep for these.

If you feel comfy with studs and straps for work meetings, then I think mission is a go. The small gap and slimmer overall profile made for a good pump alternative, and you have them in mind for different outfits than the other black booties. Yay vote from Rae!

Yes, I totally feel I have to change the way I dress. It used to be I could get away with a simple skinny and topper and BAM, monster wedges or some other such statement shoe. I used to build my outfits from the ground up, but now I'm more likely to build it top down. I definitely for better or worse have lost some of the hard edge. I'm still struggling with it, and lust after bad shoes; most recent example the Isabel Marant western stiletto boots.

ETA At the bus stop this morning there was woman wearing a Burberry stiletto shearling lined multi buckle boots. I kept staring at them in extreme jealously.

Anna, that's frustrating. I tend to be the same way - statement shoes make the rest of the outfit fall in place in my head. In my case it's boots, but I know what you mean.

Anna, that sucks. I used to love the super high heels, until I had back surgery a couple years ago (wow, four years actually) and threw them all out. I have often regretted this.

Proportion-wise and style-wise they look great. However I think a lot of people would have trouble with the studs in a professional setting, unless you are already queen of it all, in which case I am pretty sure you can wear what you want. Also if I wore these I would probably scrape up my shins crossing my legs or tear my hose. But maybe they are very blunt?

It just so happened that I was at the MOA/Nordstroms today and a verrrry stylish lady was trying on booties nearby. One of them was that very one!! So cute IRL that I had to try them on, and bring them home!! I'm waiting to see if I wake up tomorrow and realize I'm just an Una-UWP-wannabe, or if these really have a place in toughening up my darkly classic winter outfits. . .

P.S. Her other bootie she tried was a fringed Isabel Marante look-a-like -- not unlike your All Saints one

I have black ankle boots with this heel height and I wear them ALL the time. They might not be seen in as many WIWs, but they get a ton of use. And I think the heel height looks cool. How are you planning to wear them? Oh I remember you started a new thread, I'll go over there and look!

Scarlet, I agree they aren't the most professional shoes. Since I run my own office, I have a lot of leeway in how I dress, of course considering my clients. I'm always torn between fitting the norm and pushing the envelope... Thanks for the reminder.
