K/R: Vest-Off, silk elephants, and cold shoulders

Wow, a lot of stuff arrived and it's all black. Here is the vest I'd returned, in a larger size

AND for competition the Vince Camuto vest (apparently sold out now). Which one is better and why? Or neither?

Also shown, a silk elephant shirt I couldn't resist from Yoox (spied on my ongoing perfect white shirt quest).

Finally, the Free People cold shoulder top, with hair pulled back. Is this IT-eriffic or IT-errible? Because I kind of love it. It does have the weird seam that seems (ha ha) to follow the IT outline. Price dropped the day after I ordered it too.

I vote 1st vest. I'm not sure why but maybe I think the shape would be more versatile.

I vote the cold shoulder top is FAB. It makes your shoulders strong looking in a good way...it doesn't minimize (which I admit is often my goal) but it looks great.

And I vote you send me the elephant shirt because I want it!

Wowza, I gasped when I saw you in the cold shoulder top -- you look incredible! Love the elephant shirt but haven't decided between the vests because my mind is so boggled over your fabulous shoulders (sorry for sounding weird).

Aw, thanks about the shoulders. As a climber and an IT, they are simultaneously my best and my most difficult body part. I wish I could show them off more this way, instead of fighting with jackets all winter!

Ok, the vest. I actually like both BUT #1 is the fresher more modern shape IMVHO.

Love the elephant shirt.

I am not a fan of cold shoulder tops but found myself looking at one while at lunch today. hmmm. I do like this on you. It's edgy and interesting and I think you should keep.

Wow! Love all. Cold shoulder is girls- strong in the best way. Elephants rock. I'm confused on vests. I like both? Unbuttoned open front is easy but buttoned is.. A vest. Hmm.

I actually just hopped on to find your other vest post (considering one myself) when I saw this post. I prefer vest #1. I like the shape better. Love the elephant top- so fab! And the cold shoulder top is interesting and looks great on you.

So I just noticed my top has contrast stitching down the front but the stock photo does not. Do you think I should exchange, or does the stiching add interest?

Has your DH seen you in the cold shoulder top yet? You look sexy and so cool. I like vest photos 1 and 3 best, I think because of the vertical line created with the vest open. The shape of the vest in 3 is a bit more modern and interesting but 1 is probably more classic. The vest buttoned in 2 looks like it is overpowering you...maybe if the stance were a little higher. The elephants are fun.

I actually like it both ways. I would probably exchange if it were me, because I'm nitpicky like that. You might be lucky enough not to have that problem.

I LOVE the cut out shoulder top (of course!). The elephant print top is pretty cool too! I'm no expert on vests but #1 looks good to me!

The cold-shoulder top definitely emphasizes your shoulders, but in the best possible way. I really like it, and I think it looks great on you. The elephant top is fab, and vest #1 is also fab. I do not like the other vest nearly as much.

I prefer the first vest. I think it has great lines. Am considering trying it myself. The second one does that lapels pointing at stomach thing your trouvé jacket did, which I don't like as much.

Love both of the tops as well!

I looked...the picture you linked does have the stitching. Not as contrasting maybe, but it is there. I actually like the stitching, and they do call it "slimming" stitching. I'd say keep because they are probably all like that.

I like the first vest better, too. The second one's stance is too low for you, I think - did you get regular or petite?

Love the elephant shirt and the FP as well! I have been waiting to see that one on someone; it's great.

Another vote for vest #1. My initial uninformed opinion (before reading any comments) was that I somehow liked that sleek vertical line that it creates down the middle. Reading comments now, I agree that the stance on #2 seems a bit low. Interesting that Deborah identified the line of #1 as more modern -- now that she mentions it, I do realize there are a number of open jackets I've seen recently with that straight or barely curved line. Maybe this is why I was recently drawn toward the Theory Tadean when I was at the store to try on the Theory Lanai yesterday.

Rae, I got the petite in the first vest but went up a size (from the first time I posted) and this is a much better fit. Do you think it looks right now? In the VC, there were only regular sizes online. I think the stance is just too long and low on me. But is the first one too classic? I was planning to throw it on over dresses and silk shirts, as well as t-shirts...

The cold shoulder is marvelous, as long as you have a place to wear it.

Thanks, BethAnn (and everyone else!). The cold shoulder top is for Florida, where I hopefully will not have cold shoulders! And summer. And meanwhile, it'a a drapey RATE black top.

Looks like vest #1 has it. Funny, I wanted to wear it but waited patiently for the second one to arrive...

The vest is very 80's, but not updated in my opinion. It really to me, does not look modern and current. To be supercritical, it looks like something from when you used to thrift relentlessly.
