K/R various summer replacement items

My summer wardrobe is mostly full, but I was looking to replace a handful of lower quality items that served purposes but have now worn out or shrunk. ( I’ll be honest about the Boden caftan; don’t need it at all but always wanted one. I have a shorter aqua colored tunic from them that I love. I don’t need this one.)

1-2 Boden caftan. I know I’m sending this back. I think this fits well on the bottom but is too baggy on top. This means sizing down won’t help me at all. I love this but I think I must sadly send it back. I’m just posting in case anyone else was interested in this item, which I think is beautiful. Possibly better for more of a rectangle or hourglass shape.

The rest are LOFT items.

3 - tunic - I am trying to replace a top that I wore to work that had light, long sleeves, which is great for air conditioning in the summer. I actually like this a lot and I think I want to keep it... but I think I love this tile pattern so much that I may be too biased. (I have a weakness for such things; I have flowy top goggles.) Please let me know if it looks good. I would pair it with my white jeans.

4-5 Flowy pants. I think this is good, but I always want a gut check for this kind of style. It’s not something I would’ve thought to buy before a couple of years ago, since they’re but my other fun summary pants have died out. What do you all think?

6-7 Black peplum top - I’m trying to replace a black boho style top that was very useful to me but shrunk in the wash. I feel like I should love this but there’s something off about it. Maybe the proportion is slightly wrong?

The Boden caftan looks like a wonderful item; since you like it so much, would it be worth it to bring it to someone who does alterations for an opinion before you send it back?

I personally like the flowy pants on you a lot. I was in Loft a few days ago and was tempted by a similar pair. They’re super comfortable on warm summer days.

To my eye, the black peplum top sticks out a bit stiffly in the back. I’d want it to softly drape, if it were mine.

windchime, while I’d consider alterations in theory, in practice anything beyond a simple hem is very expensive here in NYC. I’d probably be almost doubling the price. But I’ll take opinions into consideration. I’m not an alterations expert.

You echo my gut feelings on the pants and black top.

I think the tunic looks good. If you're unsure and know you'll wear it with white jeans, maybe post a pic with you wearing it with the white jeans?

I know what you mean about the peplum top. It looks too short or something; the proportions seem odd.

I like the print pants- they are fun and with the colors in the print you could wear with all color tees or tops.
Peplums can do a lot for waist definition. ...... and would go with fun pants- right?

The Flowy pants looks so fab on you, you must keep! I see what you are seeing with the black peplum, the proportions may be off on this one.

The fit on the caftan is definitely wrong, I agree. And the peplum looks too boxy to my eye. But I just love the pants- color, print, and fit are great.

I love the white tunic on you- I think it’s a keeper. I also love the loft pants. I have a weakness for flowy tops and flowy pants too. I agree with the others the peplum isn’t as fab. Thanks for showing us the Boden tunic, it’s lovely. But... we need to be PPP right?

Would like to add that this (#3) is one of the best outfits I have seen you wearing. The lines are so harmonious with your body. The tunic will look great with white pants/jeans too.

The white tunic is great- best of the bunch. The pants are fun. How would they look jut a bit shorter? I think the peplum is not quite in the right spot to be flattering.

You’re right, the caftan and the peplum top are not the right cuts. The top in 3 is cute but I want to see it with light pants for a low-contrast look. I love the patterned pants and am often attracted to that kind of thing but always chicken out and return them.

Peplum top: a keeper. Period.
You may be trying it on with the wrong bottom. This top would look fantastic with a high waist wide legs.
Floral pants: I say go! They look super cute on you. I think you could have fun playing around the top and topper. I see a green cam (in one of the colors from the pattern) and a long duster (like Katerina's pink dress).
Caftan: you're correct, too big on top.
White tunic: It's the sleeves. Something with these sleeves. I don't like it. Sorry for my blunt words.

Hi Christina. I always have a chuckle( in a good way ) when I read your post because I could have written them.
I think we have the same proportions( I too am blessed with Portuguese hips ) and I see what you see in terms of fitting.
I would keep the printed pants and the blouse (#3). Yes, the others have potential and you could make it work but I am sure you can find other items that are love at first sight and fit your purpose.

Thanks all! I’m glad you all love the pants. You should all notice by now I have a pattern of posting on here when I’m unsure of a new style of pant!

I do love the white too too (sorry krish). (ETA maybe you’re right. The sleeves are long. They’re supposed to be but It may not work on me.) Krish, I also don’t really wear many high waisted pants since they’re very uncomfortable on me (short waist, plus bloating problems). So if that’s the way to wear that peplum, it will have to go back because it won’t serve the my purpose. I bought it to go with the slimmer, printed bottoms I have. I am trying to branch out though, per what I wrote above. I can’t rock the high waists the way you do, though!

I suppose I can try it on again with one of those bottoms. I was in a hurry before. And the white top wih white jeans.

Celia, I feel you. I think this body shape is a blessing but it can be a challenge to dress in some ways.

Well, I’m going to be on the lookout for a black, sleeveless blouse. Otherwise I’m set for summer and can take a break from shopping now. Phew.

Love the tunic, but that may be more in theory than on me. I just looked at the picture again. Hmm. I’ll think it over. I’d still like something similar, but tunics are hard to find for me for some reason. It’s a less pressing need, though. I end up layering over short sleeved tops at work 90% of the time in the summer anyway.

ETA- I’m seduced by prints, especially these tile prints. This is my iPad cover. I think it might be because of the Portuguese blue and white tiles (azulejos). It’s in my blood!

Another fan of the flowy patterned trousers, look great on you - definitely a keeper. I quite like the top in no 3, but don’t love it. I think you should wait for one truly fabulous. The Boden top doesn’t fit right, agree on sending it back. Not sure about the peplum. Maybe with other bottoms? What would the peplum top look like with the flowy patterned trousers here?

Katerina, I won’t bother trying the black top with other pants. I need it to go with most of my pants, which tend to be skinnier than the floral ones. If it won’t serve that purpose, then I don’t need it.
