K/R Two dresses

I haven't been around much and I feel like I'm losing my "fashion" eye. Do you think either of these are keepers? I loved the striped dress in store--it satisfied my yearning for something bold and colorful but I'm not sure the stripes are doing me any favors. The tee dress is just a loose, shift like knit. I thought it would be great for those dreadful hot summer days but I'm wondering whether it just looks dumpy. Feel free to set me straight!

Hey, Kelly - LOVE the first red and white and black striped dress. Love, love, love. Amazing on you! The one that might not be doing you any favors is the blue dress. It's a little too shapeless - shoulders, neckline, and all the way down.

That first dress is stunning on you Kelly - love the stripes, the colour combination and the fit. Definitely keep.

I'm not feeling any love for the second dress however - it hides all of your gorgeousness. I vote return the second one.

I am with Laura and Shannon - the first dress is very bright and flattering, I think you look great in it. The second dress seems baggy.

The first dress is super cute - love it! The second one seems too baggy - could you size down? Or maybe rein in the volume with a low-slung belt? Although if you want it for dreadfully hot summer days you probably aren't going to want a belt....

The second dress has a hard act to follow after the first one--it's super fablicious on you!! The second one reminds me of a nightgown, unstyled like this...Maybe with a low-slung belt, some skinnies, and a scarf? But then that goes against what you were wanting it for (a hot summer day), right?

Without looking at other comments: I love the first striped dress. It is a good shape on you and it is a fun combination of two trends - stripes and coloblocking.
I am not a fan of the second dress: it is too shapeless in a bad way and does not deserve our beautiful Kelly!

Kelly, I miss you girl! Dress #1 is so very flattering and stylish. I hope to see a lot of it in WIWs. It does look perfect for a hot day.

As for #2, if you need something as a swimsuit cover up or for lounging, it is fine. It *might* work better if styled with some sort of a belt, but it *might* just be easier to keep looking.

Thanks so much for setting me straight. I'm glad that the bright striped dress gets to stay. It's the first knit dress I've found in a long time that doesn't cling to every bump or lump. It's a substantial knit that just seems to skim over everything. Dress #2 will go back because I don't need any nighties. I'm a PJ girl, here : ) I'll keep looking for that easy, breeezy summer dress to replace my Target ones from last summer!
@Parsley: The brand is Calvin Klein which I picked up at Marshall's. It was already on clearance so it must be last season. Seemed like a steal for $20!

Thanks for letting me pop in with a question! It's been hectic around here--DD's activities are keeping me busy. Never thought I'd say this but I'm looking forward to when they can drive!
