K/R: Trina Turk rain jacket - YouLookFab Forum

I haven't been in a fashion mood for the past few months... I've replaced a few essentials and picked up one statement dress in London (currently at the tailor after 2 fittings, altering a bust smaller is harder than one would think), but I need to do a wardrobe "study" for spring and I just haven't wanted to.

But I've been looking for a year now to replace my old Boden rain coat. So I ordered Angie's TT recommendation and it arrived unexpectedly today. I'm not sure if the fit is off, though? My body type is rectangle, secondary apple, and petite but I can wear regular sizes with alteration at 5'2 1/2". It don't usually wear A-line undefined-waist styles and I'm not sure how it should fit.

So here are some photos, in the hope that y'all can advise me! #1-2 are the Trina Turk rain coat in tomato, size XS, with the sleeves tucked up to the length that I would alter them to. #3 is my old Boden mac for comparison (hard to tell in the photo but the fabric is very worn around the edges, which bothers me).

What say you, keep or return?

I think it looks a good fit and love the way it swings out at the back. The colour is so pretty, you should get lots of compliments.

With this coat, it's tricky: hard for me to know if it's a little big, or the fit's perfect. But this must be the smallest size. I like it on you. It's such a great coat.

Thanks everyone for your input thus far! Like Mochi, I'm on the fence about whether the fit is just right for a swing-style coat or a bit large through the torso/arms. It is the smallest size so I can't size down further. I do love the color though--looking at these photos, the tomato red is really brightening compared to my old navy rain coat.

I think this is incredible on you! Keep! The fit looks perfect to me.
And thanks for the great photo of the back. I love this swing style and the back is really the piece de resistance.

It looks perfect on you. You should keep it, but shorten the sleeves as shown. Not only is it cheerier than your old coat, but the bright color makes it safer, too.
