K/R: Trademark Maxi

So these came today and they are a lovely cotton and fit well and great colors ... But I feel like I am ready to join a cult. I think this may be just too minimal for me, and/or too high a neckline or something. Thoughts?

I hate to say it, but I vote return as well. The yellow color looks great on you, but it has such a high neckline that it looks odd. I think if the neck was lower, it'd work much better.

I agree with Alicat and K. I think you can do better than that. Maybe the neckline is too high or maybe it's a combination of things.
Keep on looking for your maxi...

I think this severe style would be hard to wear in an everyday life. I do like the citron color on you.

I think the sleeve with a more open neck would be good. Or the higher neckline but sleeveless. Both together is too much. Long answer but return IMHO.

I love the citron color on you but in my opinion, for what that is worth, there is something out there more deserving of your fabulousness. But that's just me.

I actually like the dress on its own merits, and I love the color of the first one. However, it is very severe, as others have noted, and decidedly not your style. So I would vote return.

I actually enjoy wearing something like this every now and then. :^)

I know what you mean. I had several long dresses and what I thought were cute jumpers, and I came to the realization that I looked like I was in a cult or something. I don't wear them anymore. These might be ok if you somehow made them current. I don't know how though.

I just bought another cotton maxi this weekend (Angie don't kill me!), for me, personally, the key is sleeveless, V or scoop neck, and empire waist and/or body skimming column, that suggest a waist.

That's for me -- for YOU -- I think you could do a high neckline maxi, provided it was sleeveless, as in a halter style, which would look amazing on you. So I don't think it's the neckline, nor the lack of waist definition either.

That said, I don't think such halter styles come in tee-shirt like cotton? Not drapey enough?

Gosh, I always type a zillion words, when maybe a picture would do!

I think I would have to say return also. I agree with FL that the same dresses sleeveless would look good. I am wondering how the black one might look with a statement necklace of stacked silver chains... but I do think the neckline is just too high.

Shiny - thanks for those links. I love the Loft maxi you bought! I'm actually not in the market for a maxi. I have one wine maxi from Susanna Monaco that I really like and I wear it a couple of times in the summer, and I don't think I need another. I bought these because I thought I liked the style and I wanted to try the new brand. But these can go back, and I'm no longer looking.

Oh too bad! Aren't you happy you tried? They seem like an unusual cut and read too big too me and too high on the neckline. Funny because they aren't shown on a model on the website are they? Makes it tricky to know what might work or not. So glad you tried!
