K/R Totes/Bags and WIW - YouLookFab Forum

I didn't plan to post this as a WIW, but Nadya's post about cobalt made me realize that we were almost twins today! So, this is what I wore today.

For the K/R, these are two bags (same bag, two colors) that I picked up on a great sale. I'd looked at them full price, I looked at them on sale, and I bought them on a sale with half off the sale price. I can very comfortably keep one or both and they don't have to be workhorse bags. They just have to be right. They are very good quality leather.

I'm honestly on the fence about these. I loved them when I ordered them. When I opened them up and looked at them, they seemed too large. Then I took photos and being able to look at them more in isolation, I think the proportions might work. I took photos from many angles so that I (we!) could get a better idea of how it works worn different ways.

I don't have a blue bag or a white bag. I do have my grey snakeskin satchel that I bought at the NAS; however, I think the size and finish of this is so different, I don't see it as a duplicate. I do have two young kids, so a roomier purse or tote is pretty useful for me.

So, I'm looking for thoughts on these. Keep or return?

I like the bag, but have a preference for the white version. Nice outfit too.

Nice boots! And of course, great color pairing.

I prefer the blue bag, but it may be because the white one looks snakeskinny to me, and I have a poison eye for snakeskin. What's nice about both of them is they would work year round, so keeping both seems reasonable ;-).

They are really big, but if you need a sizeable bag then keep one. I'd pick the blue just because it's such a great accent colour, and you already have a neutral grey one.

I like them held by the handle. The width of the bag seems to overwhelm you when carried on your shoulder. Why don't you try throwing everything you'd want to carry into one and seeing if it works for you/feels comfortable/you fill it up?

Why do the bags look so much bigger when slung over your shoulder? For that reason, I like the blue one because the color makes it look somewhat smaller. I have a lovely bag in that color, but for some reason a lot of the color at the top rubbed off. I would also try filling the bags with your proposed contents to see if they change shape and wear different outfits to ensure the size doesn't overwhelm you.

Would you *wear* the bag over your shoulder? If yes, does the handle fit when you are wearing a blazer/jacket/coat?

Donna, I would occasionally wear it over my shoulder, but largely carry it by the handle. The opening is definitely big enough to accommodate a heavier sweater or jacket. It might not accommodate a super heavy winter coat, but just based on the style of the tote, I don't think I would often wear it with outfits that required a heavy coat. And, in that case, I could always carry by hand.

I will definitely try filling the bags. I think that will also help them relax into their intended shape. They were flattened a bit in the shipping.

LOL Una! That's because you aren't a blond! I can't imagine a white bag being something you'd wear unless it was a color-block mod or spectator inspired item. Try envisioning me in army tan and drab olive shirts and you'll see the exactly the same person/color disconnect! So, poison eye noted and accounted for.

I think they would both work for you....especially if you'd carry them by the handle. Go with a lot of different items, imo

I prefer the white. (BIG surprise). You can pull off the size because it's a streamlined bag.

I think I get to have my cake and eat it. I was thinking the blue for now and the white as spring approaches. Being patient has paid off for me because I get two bags for less than I was considering purchasing the one for. Yeah for being patient!

I have to admit, part of the reason that I bought the white was because of your (Angie's) post about the prevalence of white in the upcoming seasons' lines. Another reason was because I'm seeing more bloggers talk about wearing white in the winter. And a third was because I wore three white bottoms (a pant, shorts and a white pencil skirt) this summer and was amazed by how versatile I found them and how often I wore them!

So, unless anyone sees any reason why I shouldn't keep both, I think I will.
