I have decided that I really like jackets for spring, and have found a bunch. The problem is that they are all very similar, either the exact style in different colors, or the same color. Should I keep them all or return some? I've already worn the first jacket, and it's turned into a workhorse (although DD asked me yesterday if I was wearing a flour sack). Would it be better not to have three oatmealish colored jackets, and have at least one white? Every time I look at a white jacket it looks so…white to me, and I can't consider it.

1) Olivia Moon 3/4 sleeve linen blazer - Worn already
2) Eileen Fisher zip 3/4 sleeve jacket - The tag showed it as marked down $100 or so from it's original price, and the SA said that she could sell it to me at that price, even though it wasn't really on sale
3) Eileen Fisher with scrunched sleeves - ETA looks white in photo, but is light khaki/oatmeal
4) Lucky Brand linen jacket
5) Lucky Brand close up
6) Olivia Moon 3/4 sleeve linen blazer in black - this is actually the size smaller than the oatmeal version. For some reason it fit bigger in the shoulders

Marmee - I vote for at least one white - is the Eileen Fisher not white? - they all seem to work well with your style

These are all cute on you! I like the light Olivia Moon one on you best; I can see why it already is becoming a workhorse! The Eileen Fisher is very nice, too, and it definitely has a different vibe. The Lucky jacket is different as well. So I think you could keep them all, but if I were you, I'd be trying to judge how much I'd wear all three. If you were to keep just one, it's clear which one it will be, right? And the Olivia Moon has the advantage of being able to dress up or down easily, with its structured style and more casual fabrication.

To me, the black one is most distinct, for its color; if you have a warm-weather black jacket wardrobe hole, then I'd say keep it. I wonder if you will wear black all that much in the summer, though? You might wait for fall and get a black jacket that is more fall-winter-spring.

I agree with Firecracker that I like the first jacket best. The shape of the EF jacket is different from the other jackets. I like it best with sleeves scrunched. With more fluid fit in style, I'd like to see 4/5 sized up and like the Olivia Moon jacket best in the larger size.
If you wear dresses and skirts, you might try the jackets with a simple dress before deciding.

This is good feedback. Dustt, the EF jacket looks white, but is light khaki colored. Firecracker, good point about the wearability of black during the summer. And Joy, I think you're right, the black OM jacket is slightly too small. The SA thought the next size up looked too big, like I was wearing my "grandpa's jacket", but I'm going to go look at it again. Maybe she just didn't like the black jacket?

Oh, and I agree with you about white jackets. I admire them on others, but when I put one on, I can feel like I'm wearing a lab coat. (And I'm not in a profession to wear a lab coat. So who knows where that idea comes from!) White just isn't the greatest color for me, so if you feel the same way about it, I'd suggest resisting the urge to find a white jacket just because others say it's useful. It could end up unworn. . . like all of the white blouses in my closet! Indispensable, indeed--haha!

Firecracker, exactly. I know the lab coat feeling! I feel the same way about my white blouse as well, but I like my white tees.

Great jackets. You are on a topper roll. I really adore the first one on you. There is something just so perfect about that OM. I think the EF looks pretty darn good. It looks more A-line and I have trouble with that silhouette so I'm kind of biased against it. It is different though and looks more your style than the sportier Lucky, IMHO. I find those jackets with zippers and grommets and drawstrings a little busy so I prefer the EF for you. I really like the black jacket on you too. Just a word of warning that in my climate, I have a hard time wearing black in spring and summer. It always reads too heavy. I always end up defaulting with a light topper.

Kelly, tell me why you have issues with the A line silhouette? I've never worn it, and was hoping it would balance out my shoulders. I'm really glad you pointed out the issue with the zippers, grommets and drawstrings. I couldn't figure out why I didn't want to pull the tags off, but I think that might be it. Regarding the black, I'm not sure. When I used to wear cardigans, I wore black cardis a lot in spring and summer, but maybe they are different. Also, I'm not sure if black works differently here, since it's not reliably sunny, and not really warm until after the beginning July.

I've had a couple of A-line jackets--by that I mean they wider at the waist than they are at the shoulder. I don't think they were A-line per se but they didn't taper. I don't mind balancing my shoulders with a heavy boot or with a wider, long skirt/dress but to widen at my waist/hip makes me feel like a giant brick (since that is the narrowest part of my body.) I don't see this on you with that jacket. It's just how I've felt with this style of jacket on myself so I'm projecting. I think the length of that jacket on you is good though--it seems to hit you at a flattering place. RE: The black blazer: I definitely think black plays differently in your neck of the woods. It gets pretty hot down here.

Hmm I like the jacket you've been wearing best of the lot. I think the black linen is intriguing, but I think it'd be better to have that in a looser, longer cut. A shrunken linen blazer doesn't make much sense to me. And I do think you should just bite the bullet and get a white jacket. How about that almost-white GAP denim moto? EDIT: Oh right, finds! I've added it below

I'm with Kelly on A-line jackets, I haven't found one that I like on me yet.

You are really doing justice to the Birkenstock trend! My critiquing skills (or skillz as my son would say:) ) are sorely lacking, but my preference for the oatmeal jackets is in the order you posted them - unless you have a need/preference for a sportier look. The simplicity of the EF is appealing. I have an unlined oatmeal linen jacket similar to the Olivia Moon that got lots of wear last summer. More than my white denim jacket, but I think that had to do more with the weight of the fabric.

Thanks for explaining Kelly. That makes sense, although I'm always trying to find ways to expand my hips.

So my plan is to look again at the medium black linen jacket, return the Lucky Brand jacket, and buy the Gap jacket. Not sure about the EF jacket. But it's from Nordstrom, so I have time.

I like the Lucky brand jacket on you as well as the one you've already worn. The Lucky jacket has a different look, there is room in your wardrobe for two in this kind of a color. The black jacket looks short but it could be that cropped is the way everything's going these days.
